Hi Gabi,

I'm so glad your appointment was reassuring. I remember on my

early ultrasounds not being able to " see " what the doctors were,

but once the baby gets to be around 13-14 weeks, you'll be amazed.

<<To cheer me up, he told me that just yesterday he had a

patient on C-sect, breach pos. – and then they found out the woman

had a BU, almost complete. She carried full term never knowing of

her MA.

I also carried my son full term w/o knowing of my MA (septum). It

happens! And probably more frequently than we imagine.

<<I have another u/s in 4weeks, I asked for more frequent app.,

but he insisted that is not necessary. I hope he's right.

From my preg. experience, not much happens at 1st/2nd trimester appts.

They check your urine, listen to the heartbeat, and that's about it.

Perhaps he feels that you don't need " special " care during the early

part of your pregnancy because the baby has implanted well, etc. But

certainly, I'd push for whatever you need to ease your mind. Once the

baby gets bigger, is he going to see you more frequently? I'd

definitely request that. Are you going to get regular ultrasounds?

Best of luck to you - keep us posted!

Gabi,

A huge congrats to you on your ultrasound. Seeing the heartbeat is indeed a

wonderful thing. Have you started having any other PG symptoms yet? Maybe

you'll be lucky and escape the nausea. It's true that you probably don't

" need " another ultrasound for another 4 weeks, I think it's purely a peace

of mind type thing. Again congrats on seeing that little heartbeat.

(BU, Edd 5/1, c-sec 4/15, off bed-rest 5/20)

Hi,

I had my first u/s yesterday. For now, everything is fine, baby is

implanted on my left side. I was trying so hard to see what the doc

was showing me on the screen, but the only thing I could clearly see

is one black-empty uterus, and one white-preg. one. I think I saw

the baby, but I surly saw the heartbeat. I was so excited about

everything that I forgot to ask where exactly the baby is

implanted, on the inner on outer wall. Doc. said that for now I'm not

any different than any other `normal' preg, and that I should be fine

until the baby starts to grow and runs out of room, and that is when

I'll need special care, probably cerclage, bed rest, hospital if

necessary. To cheer me up, he told me that just yesterday he had a

patient on C-sect, breach pos. - and then they found out the woman

had a BU, almost complete. She carried full term never knowing of her

MA. I have another u/s in 4weeks, I asked for more frequent app., but

he insisted that is not necessary. I hope he's right.

Thanks for listening,

Gabi

Gabi,

congrats!!!!!! that first US is the best- but it is still hard to

make it seem real- I had my 1st at 6 w then another at 8w and then

went until 12 for a Dr appt- then had to wait until 18 w for another

ultrasound!- the waiting from appt to appt is hard- because you know

so much about your body- and have so many questions and want to know

what will happen! hang in there- looking back (I am 19w now, BU) it

was actually easier then, I didn't really feel anything- (but tired)

and now, I have weird stretching and things that I don't know what

they are- and always question them! now I am going to the dr every

two weeks so I feel better...... I hope for a " normal " preg for the

rest- so far...pretty normal!!!

congrats again!

Great news, Gabi! You must be walking on air. :-))))

Feel free to post brag pix of your little bean in the Our Ultrasounds

section.

I'm happy to hear of the BU woman's story. They say that having a BU

is an " incidental " thing, quite frequently, and doesn't cause much of

a problem, if any.

Gabi -

Congratulations!! I remember my excitement over seeing the heartbeat (at an

8 week US). Definately a great feeling!! I think that was when I finally

believed that I was indeed pregnant -- as if the 3 home tests & a visit to

the OB at 5 weeks weren't assurance enough. I had alot of questions about

implantation, cerclage, & placental location -- however, I forgot to ask any

of them after seeing the heart beating.

My OB also managed me as a normal pregnancy (despite my UD) until the very

end. I had weekly appointments which started around 34 weeks, & had 3 or 4

nonstress tests to ensure the baby was doing well. He showed some signs of

growth restriction near the end, but ended up being a respectable 6 pounds

12 ounces. I ended up having an induced delivery at 40 weeks & 1 day (based

on LMP) - although the OB on call that night said that I would have probably

progressed into labor on my own in a few days. During my pregnancy, my OB

saw " no reason " to check the length of my cervix - although I know a lot of

others on the site did have it done. I think it would have been reassuring.

But, in the end, I did carry to full term.

Best of luck to you!! My advice is to set short term goals along the way.

I found it helped keep my cool & not worry so much.

Keep us updated!!

Congrats!! I had my first u/s last week and it was still a little early for

him to see a lot , so I go back in on Monday, which seems a million years

away! On Thursday he *thought* he saw 2 sacs-I can see them right on the

photo-but sometimes one " vanishes " so we'll see what happens. I'm absolutely

terrified, but trying to relax.

What a fun day for you and DH. I still have our first ( & only) US

picture (20 wks) framed in my DD's room. So great everything looks

good. I could have been the patient your dr. mentioned. I carred to

37 wks, (breech, left side) and never knew! Absolutely no problems

except for severe morning sickness for 20 weeks, back pain, and the

painful " third breast " in the last trimester (the MA lopsided bulge!)

They didn't even notice during the c-section (I was with a family

practioner during pg, and the ob who delivered her had never examined

me, etc.)

Here's to a happy, healthy, successful pregnancy!

Take care -- Kate, UD, ttc for #2

Hi Gabi and congrats! Isn't it so exciting!? I had ultrasounds by my

RE at 6 and 7 weeks (but the OB would never have done that). The baby

was our little " dot " :) I had one at 9 weeks because I insisted

after a paranoid episode :) But, after that I had one at 12 weeks and

I'm currently waiting impatiently for my next one at 16 weeks. For

now, it's like a normal pregnancy. Only a little after 20 weeks will

they start seeing me every 3 weeks to monitor my cervical length.

Sounds like it makes sense for what they're doing. Thanks for the

story on the other patient - it helps me too :)

Best of luck to you! And, congrats again. You should post your pic to

the Photos area on this board!

Hi Gabi;

Sounds like your U/S went well, that's good news. It must have been

so exciting to see the heartbeart. Maybe if you shared with the

doctor any fear/concerns you have, he would consider seeing you a bit

more frequently.
