Hi everyone!

Was at work today (subbing at Early Head Start), and met a woman who

(to make a long story really short) had UD. She'd had 5 m/c before

having her first baby, including a very late loss. But then she had

a healthy little girl and then a little boy. Wow . . . are they

beautiful kids! She's thinking about having another one, so I gave

her the URL of this group, in case she wanted more info and support.

What an inspiration she is to me, having kids after so many

setbacks. She lives close by, so one of the OB-GYNs who delivered

her son also oversaw the delivery of my own son. She says she's one

of the few MA PTs he's ever encountered. (Well, there's me, but he

didn't know that at the time).

She seems really knowledgeable about her MA and all, and I hope she

joins us.

She is the second person in a year who has admitted an MA to me in

casual conversation. It's always funny to hear that, and then be

able to exclaim, " Oh yeah? Me too! " and watch her face. :-)

Beth,

That's neat that you met another woman with an MA in person! A women I met

through work also told me that here sister has a bicornuate uterus, and has

had 2 kids after many, many losses. (Makes me wonder if she really has

SU...) Another guy I know mentioned his mother was born with one kidney and

a hearing anomaly which are genetically related, he said. And he and his

brother are adopted because she was never able to have kids. So that made

me really suspect that she has an MA, but he didn't know anything about it.

I sure don't feel as alone as I did a year ago...

Speaking of related anomalies, this whole topic came up today because

we were discussing her son, who had a patent thyroid/glossal duct

(never heard of it) when he was born. It was mass on his neck

developed from a duct that should have closed off during fetal life.

After she told me about her UD, I wondered if this problem with her

son might not be related. He was tugging at his ear all the while he

ate, and she thought it might be related to his duct problem.

When I think of it, I have met 3 MA people in person: 2 UDs and an

SU. The SU lady I knew about long before I knew about my own

problem, but I remember clearly that she had several stillbirths

before having her septum removed. Then she had two beautiful girls

by c-section.

Aside from these people I have met, I keep getting stories about

cousins and aunt who had septa removed, etc. It's like `six degrees

of separation,' LOL.

Hi Beth! Isn't that so weird? I found out my SIL has a BU - she's had

3 kids. She didn't know much about it - seems it wasn't a big deal

for her (her kids are all teenagers). And, she's a nurse! Another

friend, who at 39 is investigating her infertility - because they've

been having trouble conceiving a 3rd kid - was also recently

diagnosed with a BU!

Amazing - I bet it happens a LOT more than we think!

> Hi Beth-

of course, I have a MA friend story too (just like Tara's)!! This

weekend we were visiting Dh college friend and wife- who we were told

some reason I thought it was T- as it turns out, she said she is BU,

they found this out after m/c #1, while doing the d & c, couldn't find

the fetus, they were on the wrong side- apparently the septum went

all the way down, they removed that while they were in there- she has

suffered 3 more losses, and they are now trying to adopt (additional

m/c are unexplained) I told her how helpful this group has been-

also who is t- and is now prg w/twins is a friend of a friend

(she has posted here)- when she found out about hers, our mutual

friend said, " you have to call , she has some sort of uterine

thing too!!!!!and knows all about it "

it is a small little world really! isn't it great that you can unite

us!??!?!?!?!?
