I just wanted all of my friends to see the boy I have to have put to sleep on Monday. He is just lovely. I can't believe I have to do this. Debi__________________________________________________

I am so sorry to hear about your poor lovely doggie, I know how heart breaking it is to have to do the right thing for pets that you love. If the poor dear doesn't know you all and is so confused it will be best for him... but still so horrid for you.

Love and Hugs

we've got so many animal lovers here... God, i sure did find the right place!

being that we're on the subject of dogs and death, i just wanted to share the story of how my doggie "Snickers" died last July (she was 13yrs old)

Her last week of life, she started having seizures (my good friend here is a veterinarian, and she diagnosed her with Cushin's disease a few months prior) --- anyway, in her last hours of life she got to do what she loved doing the best: Bail Bonds!! She was my "partner" and went everywhere with me - and she knew the whole routine so well and was well loved by all the Officers and staff at the stations and jails. Anyway; after finishing the bail bond, she refused to come back to the car with me. She planted herself stubbornly there at the station, forcing me to go PICK HER UP and CARRY her to the car as i lovingly complained to her; "WHY can't you be like NORMAL dogs? Normal dogs like going to the PARK and the BEACH - but noooooooooo, I have to have a weirdo like you who loves going to the police station.... you little rat!"

Anyway - we travelled home happily and once we arrived at home, she was excited to get out of the car (as usual) - I let her out and she had a mini-seizure right on the spot. (This is SUCH a scary thing to have to watch....) --- But, she snapped out of it quick, and we proceeded into the house like normal.

Once we got to our bedroom, she laid down and started panting real hard - and she had that look in her eyes. I KNEW she was going and immediately grabbed the phone and called my veterinarian friend -- she said she'd be right over (a 10-minute drive).

I kneeled over Snickers and petted her and talked to her and then she stopped breathing and the life went out of her eyes --- I SCREAMED "NO!!!!!!!!!!" so loud (i wasn't at ALL prepared for this) --- and would you believe it: She started breathing again! I cried and cried and she was back to panting and that look in her eyes.... and i finally said to her; "It's OK.... You're a good girl.... good girl.... it's OK"

- and then she stopped breathing for the final time.

I feel so blessed that i was able to be there with her when she passed - and that she "came back" long enough for me to tell her the words she loved to hear the most.

Putting your dog out is such a hard thing (i've had to do this once), but keep this in mind: It is the most loving thing you can do - and not many people are so fortunate as I was to actually be right by your pet's side when they pass (and for it to happen so quickly and painlessly). When you put Seph out, tell him/her all those nice things Seph like to hear and make sure you tell him/her "it's OK"..... and know that you gave your Seph the best life you could and in time you will open your heart to a new doggie that needs you and is waiting for you.

Shit..... im crying my eyes out over here...... this shit is NEVER easy....

-Big love to all the animals out there,

jaana

Thanks Gaile. I couldn't go through with it yet. He isn't in much pain and I just have to make sure he isn't out when anyone else is. If I get bit that is my problem, and the valium is helping him with the seizures. No pain and as long as he can still follow me around and go out and bark at the car that is parked in our drive way he seems fine. The time will come and when it does I will be strong. SHock always puts in and I go through the motions. WIth over a hundred pets it is just a matter of time who what and where.... Thanks dear Debi Youndsuthernsnail wrote:
