Guest guest
Hi Lyn, the weather was beautiful in Tn. this past weekend. Unfortunately I had a migraine and was in bed all day. Same for Monday as I have them in clusters. So far so good this morning but its early. I've never heard of your rash but I know I can't take the sun or heat. I get sick to my stomach, can't drink anything or it will come up then a headache. I sure hope it clears up quickly and I'm REALLY glad you had a good weekend. Soft hugs and Prayers, Deta @...: skybluetn@...: Tue, 23 Oct 2007 06:56:23 +0000Subject: [ ] Rheumatoid Rash Hi Group,Has anyone heard of or had Rheumatoid Rash? We went to downtownNashville last weekend for Octoberfest and I go a slight sunburn on myarms. We took my scooter so I was quite comfortable but was getting wayto much sun. Well what looked like sunburn, turned into a horriblerash. I felt really bad on Mon - Thurs and had sore joints, lots ofstiffness, etc.......so on Friday I went to the doctor. I just went tomy PCP because I could get in pretty quick. She immediately diagnosedit as Rheumatoid Rash. My RA is flaring I'm having problems with beingsuper fatiqued, headaches, and the rash. She gave me 20mg ofPrednisone, some ointment, and a anxiety stop the itch med. You shouldhave seen this rash...it ws gross....it's much much better today!Hopefully it will go away soon as it's leaving unisightly sores on myarms. So, has anyone else suffered with this rash thing. I can will befinished with the 20 mg of Prednisone and the ointment is sticky gooeystuff that takes awhile to rub in, but it's working. I just can'tbelieve that this will continued happening possibly every time I have a " flare " . I'm looking at Nov 1st having my 4th back surgery. This oneis a modified lamentectomy but no fusion or more hardware unless he getsin there and finds more wrong. He plans to open up the nerve root pathcoming out at L5/S1 so that the nerve will not be swelling and no bonewill grow into it. He opened it up as far as he could last time....butmy fusion that I just grew in the last 6 months has grown into thenerves. He will free up L5/S1 or sciatic nerve on the left side.I need to go to bed...hope eveyone is having a pain free or a pain " less " week!Lyn[Non-text portions of this message have been removed] _________________________________________________________________ Peek-a-boo FREE Tricks & Treats for You! http://www.reallivemoms.com?ocid=TXT_TAGHM & loc=us
Guest guest
Hi, Lyn. Sorry to hear about your rash and suffering. Sometimes medications can cause a similar reaction. A rash like this also can also occur in people who have either JRA, adult-onset Still's disease, or lupus. The best of luck to you on your upcoming surgery. Guest guest
Hi Lynn, I am new to the group so this is also a hi to everyone! I hope this doesn't get too long but I have to lead up to the rash thing this way. In April 2006 I was diagnosed as diabetic. In Nov. 2006 I was diagnosed with breast cancer, had surgery, chemo and radiation. I was feeling really, really good this Summer. Then a month and a half ago my knees started hurting so bad I could not get up and down without help and a day or two later I got a rash on my knees and elbows. I thought it may be a reaction to an antibiotic I was taking for a sinus infection. Even though I had taken the same one through chemo when I had a low blood count and did not have any reactions. So, when I finally met my new Family Practitioner (our other one moved out of State) I brought up my sinus problems and the knees and the rash. She decided to test for Rheumatoid in case it wasn't the antibiotic and I got the news last week that I had tested positive. I have not seena Rheumatologist yet but she is reffering me to one. I am not nearly in pain as most of you are I am sure. I admire your strength. I did cry about it...only because of everything else in the last year this was one more thing I have to tackle. I am just now getting into the " kick this thing in the butt too " stage. I have talked to friends at Church who have RA, Fibro and I have gotten some good advice. I joined this group just a day or two and am looking forward to learning from everyone. The GOOD news is, my blood sugars are back down to what they were before chemo! Hope this post makes sense. The whole thing is...yes...I was told by my Family Doctor that the rash is part of it in me anyways. God bless! Val
Guest guest
At least half my meds warn of being in the sun. So far, I've only experienced some 'stinging' from the sunlight occasionally. The only place it's a problem is on top of my head. There's a random crust that forms in the bald areas, and the front of my hairline hurts if I move my forehead, so I have to put a cream on it and don't go back out for a while. It would help if I were to put on a hat, but I'm too tough for that! LOL Dennis in eastexas [ ] Rheumatoid Rash > > >> >> Hi Group, >> >> Has anyone heard of or had Rheumatoid Rash? Guest guest
Is it something like hives? I have been having a breakout like hives throughout my body, during the day since January of this year! I went to a allergist and she said I have dermatitis. Does anybody else have this problem? ~Deneen [ ] Rheumatoid Rash > > Hi Group, > > Has anyone heard of or had Rheumatoid Rash? I have not been diagmnosed, but am on Imuran , Humira, and Prednisone. Also no appetite..... Do you take any of these drugs? When is the itching worse? Guest guest
I have taken Prednisone on and off. I only take Methotrexate now. As far as the itching, I kid you not, It happens all throughout the day. I don't know why, but it just does. She said it happens when something touches my skin. What sense does that make?! All I know is that it itches and big, welts end up on my body for at least 30 minutes, afterwards they vanish. Re: [ ] Rheumatoid Rash > Is it something like hives? Guest guest
Close, but " derma " or " dermato " means skin, and " itis " means inflammation, so dermatitis means inflammation of the skin. Guest guest
Val, Welcome to the group! Sorry to hear about everything you've been through recently. There is hope. It might not be RA. A positive rheumatoid factor test result is not specific to nor necessarily diagnostic of RA. Do go see the rheumatologist to get checked out, but I hope there is a less serious reason that explains how you've been feeling lately.
