The weight loss can catch up

Hey party people,

In an effort to be a better poster, I thought I would send this out to

earlier post op's and pre-ops.

When I first decided to have this surgery, I was dazzled by all the

people on the OH board raving about their 80 lb loss in 3 months. I

came onto 3 months and was only at 1/2 the weight loss. It did depress

me and I started thinking this surgery has failed me, etc.

I kept on doing what I was doing exactly the same as when I started. I

ate right, but even this early in the game, I never deprived myself. I

had a couple of bites of my BF cake at a party or took a couple of

bites of the warm bread at dinner. I never bothered to post this on

the other board, because I saw how people where attacked for being

honest about how they were eating (I never witnessed anyone attacking

anyone on this board, only the other one).

Here I am at almost 7 months and only 30 lbs away from goal. I

recently checked out the dec 2004 board and looked at all the people

who were smoking me in the begginning. Guess what? I caught up to them

and even past some of them up.

I posted this because I see so many early post-op's sad and

discouraged because they didn't lose as much as someone else and that

was me, too. I am glad I have been able to meet some of you at the

last luncheon. You all have such a healthy outlook and have been very

helpful. I may not post very often, but I read a lot and appreciate

being a part of this group. You guys rock!

very nicely said!:) I will be three weeks post-op this

coming up Monday. I have managed to lose 31 pounds so far but I am

no fool. I know that this weight loss will come to a slow down and

all I have to do is prepare myself and know that this magnificant

weight loss will not be a monthly thing!:) It's hard not to compare

your weight loss with others weight loss. In the beginning I swore

that I was going to be this woman and that woman who lost 100 pounds

in six months but now being on the losing side I know that may not

be true for me. I may just lose 50 pounds in six months and I won't

lie and say that doesn't scare me. I think I may feel that the

surgery has failed me if that were the case but I have to keep in my

mind that my body is different than everyoneles's and it won't be

the same. I will just continue to do my best to go by the book and

to take exercise seriously when I can start and take this weight

loss journey one day at a time. I know my time will come when I

will have reached my goal or became very close to my goal and that

is all that matters no matter how long it takes. Easier said then

done I know. Congrats on your weight loss and what a great

prespective and a positive outlook to have. It's a wonder your such

a great success. Your in inspiration to all of us who may go

through the same thing and it will help to remember back on your

post and know that it's okay!:) God bless

Hey Liz --

Congrats on your fantastic accomplishments. It is true -- we are all

individuals, and our journeys will be asindividual as we are. Some lose fast

inthe beginning, and slower later on. Others will start slow and sped-up, or

start slow, and remain slow losers. Some people hit plateaus, others never hit

a plateau until they reach goal.

Please -- all you newbies and pre-ops -- please don't compare yourselves or your

journey to that of somebody else. We have spent too much time in our lives

being compared, and learning to compare ourselves, to other people and making

judgments based upon these comparisons. We are all unique...and we will all

have different experiences in this life change.

It is greatthat Liz has learned not to compare herself and her own victories to

those of other people. I wish we could all learn that sooner, rather than

later...it would alleviate some depression and anxiety as we walk along our

paths.

Blessings to everyone this Friday evening!
