Guest guest
Was dx'd 2 years ago and have done Active surveillance. On original biopsy (6 cores) Gleason was 6 (3+3) Clinical stage is T1c Had PSA test on January 9, 2008, PSA test result was 2.13 Had PSA test on April 9, 2008, PSA test result was 2.33 Had PSA test on July 8, 2008, PSA test result was 2.55 Had PSA test on October 15, 2008 PSA test result was 2.95. Was prescribed Avodart. Had PSA test on March 10 , 2009 PSA test result was 1.41(on Avodart- it's " doubled " to 2.8) Had second biopsy in April, 2009 (10 cores) Gleason was 7 (3+4). Had tissue samples sent to s Hopkins for re-evaluation and they gave me a 6 (3+3). Had PSA test on June 2, 2009- PSA test result was 1.85 (was on Avodart- number is " doubled " to 3.75) Had TUNA (Transurethral Needle Ablation-for BPH symptoms) procedure on 7/17/09. My Doctor told me to discontinue Avodart 2 weeks thereafter. M.D. had told me to wait 2 months before getting next PSA test. Had PSA test on Sept 24, 2009- PSA test result was 0.79 . The precipitous drop is certainly preferable to a PSA jump. However, what could have caused this drop? I'm not on any " therapy " (ADT etc.). I'm thinking that the result is bogus. Any comments will be appreciated. Thanks, Sy
