My cellular resistance to thyroid showed clearly in a comparison test of

saliva thyroid levels and blood levels. While my blood levels showed

just fine top of ranges, my saliva levels showed HIGH TSH and low T3.

This means that all the thyroid in my blood is not getting into the

cells, thus cellular resistance. HC cured much of that for me, but not

all of it. My blood levels still show much higher than saliva levels,

which i why I have to take extra T3 to compensate. By keeping my blood

levels over range I seem to be able to get enough to relieve symptoms at

the tissue level.

What a lovely, concise explanation, thank you Val. Particularly helpful for

the almost brain-dead mongst us like me :)

Now my 24-hour thyroid urine showed me extremely over the range for FT3 and

FT4 where my bloods taken a couple of weeks before showed just over the range

in FT3 and high in the range (if I am remembering this aright) for FT4 and

well-suppressed TSH.

You have indicated a lack of faith in the 24-hour urine test Val and I am

wondering if you would remind me what your thinking on this is? I had it done

because Hertoghe uses it and thought that was good recommendation.

thanks.

Probably for MOST cases of uncomplicated hypo it is fine to test thyroid

wiht a urine test. but let's face it, how many of us REALLY have simple

uncomplicated hypo? I sure don't and neither do you! What is in the urine is

the

PROCESSED thyroid hormones, hormones thta are passed through the body and

supposedly through the metabolic processes. HERE is the problem. What if we do

not

process thyroid correctly? How much of what we take and/or produce passes

through us unused? How much is left floating as excess in the blood due to

low/high cortisol levels? How much is still in our bodies but bound by other

hormones (estrogen) or proteins? I htink it is a good tool, but not a stand

alone

one. For it to have the most meaning tissue levels need to be checked

simultaneously. As in saliva testing which is the tissue level.

Right I think I understand this now.

My problem, apart from being influenced by Hertoghe, was the cost of the

saliva was even higher than the urine and that was very expensive. I think the

saliva thyroid is £100 here which is $194!

My urine levels were SO high that, from what you say, it is possible that

the high levels COULD POSSIBLY be because the hormones, or a proportion, passed

straight through?

Hmmm. Rob a bank time again? Who was it who was going to join me before with

water-pistols? Come back I need you :)

I'll help you rob a bank.. I have spent over $350 in the last month and

a half on doctor visits and antibiotics and I am still sick. The latest

one $110 for 7 pills is doing nothing. Lets just go shoot some doctors

I have been AMBULANCED to ER twice in the last month, and they said

they saw NO REASON WHATSOEVER to consider adrenal invovlement. I was

in severe crisis for 7 days in a row, but all they saw fit to do

was to test me for illegal street drugs. If I had not had a storage

of corticosteroids at home that I self medicated with, I shudder to

think where I would be. (Doubled my dose back up today and am doing

much, much better)

Oh, and insurance covered only a small fraction of all the ER

charges, so there I am, left holding the bag once again.

Val, isn't there a way we could go out and get them thar docs that

might be a little bit messier? I mean, shooting them, somehow, sounds

just a little bit too neat and clean........

Oh yes - I like the sound of this - the old taste of their own medicine

jobbie.

Best ways to learn I reckon!
