Guest guest
Phil, When I first went on HC over 2 months ago.....I took my Armour first and then the HC. It didn't work well.... I was even more fatigued! So, when someone suggested I switch them around, it made a world of difference, right away! I take my HC FIRST and then an hour later, take my Armour and T4. I too think you would do better on 10mg. first dose of the day and then follow with your 5mg. dosing.....When I only took 5mg. in the AM, I was sluggish all day long. Why not give it a try? At this point you have nothing to lose except the fatigue! :0) Dana > > > > I am up to 2.75 grains of armour one in the morning before taking 10 > > mgs of Cortef and one at noon before taking 5 mgs of cortef and .75 > > mgs at dinner before taking 5 mgs of Cortef. > > > > > Hi, Phil, > > Just out of curiosity, why are you taking the HC AFTER the Armour? > Maybe you'd get more bang for the buck if you take the HC BEFORE or > WITH the Armour, since you need cortisol to let the thyroid into the > cells. > > I take mine together & do just fine. Guest guest
> > From what I have read doing more in the morning if you cortisol levels are very low mine are very low first thing in the morning I have tried all kinds of ways even went up to 30 mgs a day no difference this is what works the best so far. I was adding more armour in the past by my Temps they go up when I add then about 10 to 14 days they fall back some this was when I added more. Now that I am over 2.5 grains my temps don't fall so fast and this time it's been over 3 weeks. So this is why I posted to Val. > Phil Hi, Phil, I've got to tell you that I wonder if some of your meds might be causing the temps to continue to be whacked out. I was previously on Adderall XR for ADHD (and was on Concerta prior to that). I DID NOT buy into the " hype " that stimulants & psych meds undermine the adrenals, because I couldn't find any supporting studies that really convinced me. Well, after being on HC for a period of time, I started having trouble sleeping. I didn't think it could be that I was on too much HC, because my temps still weren't stable, and I was still needing to stress dose, etc. So, I decided to do a trial of no Adderall. Stopped cold turkey with NO problems. Seems that being on HC took away a pretty good chunk of ADHD symptoms. (And being on ample progesterone seems to take care of the rest...hmmm...imagine that!) Anyway, guess what happened? Within 3 days, my temps stabilized! They're still low - clearly not optimized yet, and they still get wacky when I have my period, but prior to stopping the Adderall, I was all over the map with temps. Mind you, Phil, I would have NEVER imagined that this would happen. Now, the negative part is that I'm really slumpy & tired now - more reflective of how unwell I really am, with no stimulant revving me up through the day. That part is hard to deal with. For example, I don't feel that I could work full time right now (and with my present financial situation, I need to re-think that!) But I do feel like I will ultimately be healthier in the end. Not trying to convert you, just provide food for thought from the perspective of been there, done that. If I hadn't been through it myself, I wouldn't have believed it. (And I think that people are WAY too emotional about the use of stimulants for ADHD, so please folks, no flaming posts on that topic!) Then, I spoke with a hormone expert about my goofy sex hormone results. Turns out that my monthly estrogen surge is happening after ovulation instead of before. He said that this is rare, but when he sees it, it's almost exclusively in women on psych drugs & that drs don't understand how drugs that affect brain chemistry also affect hormone issues. Wouldn't have believed that either if I hadn't seen the test results, etc. for myself. Also, if I recall correctly, you're on a couple of other asthma/allergy drugs? Is it possible that with the HC & those that you're suppressing the HPA axis? Don't know much about that...perhaps Val might comment? Guest guest
I know what your saying and talked with my Dr. about this when I seen him last month. I am going to start to come off a lot of the meds when I see him next month. He wanted to wait for more testing. So he said first the Concerta then the Xanax and so on my breating is so much better but he wants to go slow. Guest guest
Yeah, Phil, slower is probably better than the way I did it. But I seem to prefer to do things the hard way! LOL! Glad to hear that you had a good morning taking the HC with the Armour. Warmly, > > I know what your saying and talked with my Dr. about this when I seen him last month. Guest guest
So far I have found if I take them both with some 1/2% milk I don't get the stomach upset. I started doing this today.
