Guest guest
Hello to members long standing and new, Recently I read a memoir of a diabetic's mismanagement and improved management of her illness. It's an NLS talking book called, " Sweet Recovery, A Young Woman's Emotional Ride by Bradley. The copyright is 1992 so much of the medical information is out dated, but the core message, that we will suffer terribly if our glucose isn't kept in a healthy range, is absolutely current. Since I haven't been the poster child for compliance, it was very instructive for me to follow the author's progress with bout after bout of health complications as her eating disorder and unwillingness to track her glucose resulted in physical collapse, uncontrolable infections and further complications. Her ultimate solution may not be exactly what we strive for in 2006, but she moved in the right direction when she began to monitor her own condition and question some doctors and cooperate better with others. Has anyone else read this book? Discussing it might be interesting. Always With Love, Lissi
