Guest guest
Hi Dianne, I recently received approval and back pay for Social Security Disability. I have had RA & MS for about 2 years (50 years old). I applied in October of 2006. I did a telephone interview and sent them copies of all tests I had in my possession after I received their packet from the interview. Prior to the interview I wrote down everything I did on my job and how the RA affected my movement and lifting, etc. There is a checklist of things that you need to have available on www.socialsecurity.gov I received approval in March 2007 (five months). I actually quit working on my job in May 2006. I was eligible for short-term disability (six months with pay). I waited to apply for the SS Disability until after I had applied for other Long Term Disability insurance I had available. I did not want my long term disability (private insurance companies) to use a decision made by Social Secdurity against me (just in case of a denial). My Rheumy backed me 100% before I ever decided to quit my job. I hope this helps. I have worked in different libraries for the last 15 years and was just diagnosed last October. The job requires lots of lifting and typing. My wrists and hands are the most effected and I just wonder how long I will be able to continue. I am 39 and do have enough work credits to apply. I just wonder if I should keep working until I absolutely can no longer do so, or start the process now. Thanks for any information. Guest guest
Hi Miny--- thank you for the information! I have applied - and will see what happens... I am 43 and have come to the place that I know I can not work full time anymore - I work one day and have to sleep for three to work one more.... I hope that it goes as well for me as it did for you!!! I worry that having moved and not having insurance anymore as well as not having a doctor here that it might hurt my case... but your experience has given me hope!!! Thanks again, Rose Miny S <minyslater@...> wrote: Hi Dianne, I recently received approval and back pay for Social Security Disability. I have had RA & MS for about 2 years (50 years old).
