Guest guest
Val, Seriously have you thought about wearing a life alert bracelet or necklace? I am very worried about you being alone like this. Do you carry a cell phone? If so, do you have 911's number on speed dial??? Do you carry candy in case something like this occurs??? Puhleez don't think bad of me for worrying so. I'm not trying to stick my nose in your business. wrote: >>Man, that would be the BEST news ever!!! Did you faint!?!? Did you do anything different?<, Nothing different at all. Got very scared driving in to work as the roads were icy, but that should have raised my glucose not dumped it. No I didn;t faint, or I wouldn't be here. As usual I was alone and with no one due in the dshop for at least an hour. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV My Ebay Jewelry Store (Closing after Xmas!!!) http://stores.ebay.com/valeriescrystalcreations http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/

Guest guest
Val, It could be that the cells after being insulin resistant for a long while are now functioning better. I was curious from your post on how you dose, why you're taking Lantus twice a day, instead of once daily. That's usually calculated for a 24 period. Is this a different form? Linn > I am awake and a bit nervous today. I had a very near miss yesterday > with a low sugar episode of 45... YEEK. Guest guest
No it is the same Lantus but there is a curve to the useful life of the dose. By taking it twice a day it covers that curve and makes it more even throughout. I DO think something in my body must have changed. I am sure it is for the better it just took me by surprise! And I DO have glucose tablets everywhere, thank God. It took 7 of them yesterday to bring me back to 90's then I went to the store and bought a horrid sandwich to eat as I still had 3 hours for the insulin dose to work through. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV My Ebay Jewelry Store http://stores.ebay.com/valeriescrystalcreations http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/

Guest guest
Val, Depending on when you're seeing lows, you might try doing the larger dose of Lantus in the morning when you have more time during the day to take notice of the lows. The Lantus should be very stable over the 24 hours. It's what they use even with babies who have Type 1. When you're dosing intermediate action insulin, you would always use the larger dose in the morning and a much smaller dose in the evening, so it could be the Lantus affecting the lows also. You may end up being able to quit using the immediate acting insulin and only need the Lantus. Many Type 2's end up being able to control their blood sugar like that. One of the other things to watch out for when you're having to raise your blood sugar quickly is that simple sugars like the glucose tabs, Skittles or candy will raise your blood sugar quickly but it will also not last that long and sometimes will drop rather quickly again, especially if you have to add more insulin. It works really well to take a small dose of quick acting sugar followed by something with some fat in it. That will keep it more stable. Guest guest
I don't think the Lantus is the problem, but the Humalog i am needing a whole lot less of, though still some. I took 3U this morning with a good breakfast that was just shy of right on. I a a little high 127 but that is fine. MUCH better than 45! But till yesterday I was taking 10-13U with breakfast! And still staying in the low 100's. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV My Ebay Jewelry Store http://stores.ebay.com/valeriescrystalcreations http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/

Guest guest
For anyone that is new here, it just dawned on me, you are probably wondering what all these checking in posts are from me every AM.. I am newly diagnosed Diabetic, and live alone an am using Insulin.. Very scary as it is really easy to have a low sugar where especially at night is dangerous as you just don't wake up. So this is my back up plan.. Several lovely ladies here have volunteered to keep an eye out for my AM posts and if I am NOT around to call me to make sure I am OK. So that's the " checking in " posts. BTE gals, I am fairly certain I am gonna be fine onm the new Insulin as Ron is being very conservative (for him!) and he is well aware that I live alone and work alone. He just sent me a new spreadsheet with MY specific info in it so it calculates my dosages even more accurately than before! So as soon as I am over this cold or whatever ti is, I should have an excellent tool to use! -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV My Ebay Jewelry Store (Closing after Xmas!!!) http://stores.ebay.com/valeriescrystalcreations http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/

Guest guest
Hey Val, where do you order your coffee? Oh, BTW...I remember you said you paint iodine. Abraham has discussed the use of iodine to control diabetes. Are you familiar with his article & using large-dose iodine for diabetes? http://www.optimox.com/pics/Iodine/IOD-10/IOD_10.htm (scroll halfway down) " ...When asked what she felt the big change was, she felt that her diabetes was under better control due to the use of iodine. Two years later and 70 pounds lighter this patient continues to have excellent glucose control on iodine 50 mg per day. We since have done a study of twelve diabetics and in six cases we were able to wean all of these patients off of medications for their diabetes and were able to maintain a hemoglobin A1C of less than 5.8 with the average random blood sugar of less than 100. To this date these patients continue to have excellent control of their Type II diabetes. The range of daily iodine intake was from 50 mg to 100 mg per day. All diabetic patients were able to lower the total amount of medications necessary to control their diabetes. Two of the twelve patients were controlled with the use of iodine plus one medication. Two patients have control of diabetes with iodine plus two medications. One patient had control of her diabetes with three medications plus iodine 50 mg. The one insulin dependent diabetic was able to reduce the intake of Lantus insulin from 98 units to 44 units per day within a period of a few weeks. In the Type 1 diabetics that we have been following we have noted that if C-peptide is measurable, this would suggest that the individual is making their own insulin. I have been able to help this group of patients to get off insulin or to greatly reduce the amount they need for good glucose control with Iodoralâ at 4 tablets/day (50 mg). If C-peptide is absent then we feel there is no insulin being produced and we have not been able to help this particular group of patients to get off their insulin. We have been able to help these patients lower the total amount of insulin needed to control their glucose... " > > I am up and slogging down my coffee..
