I'm just catching up on the posts from the last week and all the discussion about unsupportive and critizing families reminds me of last weekend. I was home on Saturday night and my mom and I both love having our backs scratched. We were doing our "I'll scratch your back if you'll scratch mine" routine. A bit of history before I tell you what she said.....my mother has been telling me I'm too fat since I was 8. I lost almost 90 pounds a few years ago on Weight Watchers and I've gained quite a bit of it back. Not sure how much cause I don't weigh myself anymore. This intuitive eating is finally starting to sink in after more than a year and I can feel my pants getting looser over the last few weeks. Anyway, while she was scratching my back she says "You're going to have to go back to Weight Watchers! That weight is coming back on. Now don't get

mad at me!" I was just stunned....she has said that to me before and I've got really upset. This time though it didn't really affect me! I know that it is her own issues that make her say this stuff and I really don't care anymore. She's not going to stop saying stuff like that so it's no use saying anything to her. I haven't even told her about IE because I know she would just critize it and say stuff like 'you're getting fatter...whatever you are doing isn't working. You need to go to WW." Anyway, the funniest thing was she did exactly what she did when I was a kid after she critized my weight. Not 5 minutes later, she was getting a bag of chips out of the cupboard for everyone!! I was in my room by then and just laughed to myself. But guess what...I didn't eat any of the chips! I wasn't hungry and didn't want chips so I didn't eat any! I think I'm making progress!!
