Guest guest
I know my candida story will cause you all to shake your heads, but here goes: In 1993, when I still believed that you do what the doctor tells you without question...(what a Joke!) I presented to him with a UTI. He prescribed Cipro. I took the Cipro for a week and my infection cleared up. 2 months later, I developed another one and went back to him because my symptoms were so bad. He then proceeded to prescribe Cipro again, but this time told me to take it indefinitely as a PREVENTATIVE for UTI and told me to take one before intercourse and one the day after intercourse. Well, since I was in a long-term monogamous relationship and in my prime (early thirties) that was a LOT of Cipro for a long time. I probably took it almost daily for almost two years. I can even remember going to Greece for summer vacation in 1994 and making sure I had plenty of Cipro on hand. It was about 6 months later that I begin to develop all kinds of very disconcerting symptoms and problems and had no idea what was going on, since I didn't know anything about candida then. I finally went to a naturopath after exhausting all other medical avenues and he diagnosed me with systemic candida infiltration based on history and symptoms. I went on a very strict candida regimen which includes rotating natural antifungals and sticking to a very strict candida diet, no sugar, no yeast, no moldy foods and no nightshades. At the same time, I took tons and tons of probiotics during the entire time. I got much better and thought I was done with this. A little over a year ago, I started the Cortisone and in the last few months, a lot of my candida symptoms are back, e.g. foul breath, body odor, buildup of smelly stuff in my ears, irritability, mood swings, very severe PMS, and many more. My alternative (functional medicine doc) ran a test called " tartaric acid " which he says is the best predictor of yeast overgrowth because apparently, it's the bi-product of candida yeast in the body. My Tartaric acid was off the charts and I've got a copy of it. Now I'm back on the candida regimen, but to be honest, I think my candida has infiltrated my organs, including my brain. I recently found out something I didn't know. Apparently, systemic candida once severe, can cause extremely severe symptoms to the point of psychosis, mental illness and violence. It's a scary thing. Our earth medicine guy told us that there are people locked up in mental hospitals because of systemic candida infiltration. for , re:Lyme Hi I'm treating the Lyme with Samento and Noni, Chlorella and Milk thistle to de-tox. its been very up and down, with a major Herx along the way, but all in all I am making good progress. Daren't hope I've cracked it just yet, but there is a bit of hope sneaking through I tried abx but got really bad candida so am trying to avoid them long term..... how are you treating it? I'd be interested to hear your story. Good luck Emma -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Free Edition. Guest guest
G: I am trying to catch up on posts and saw this one. I had the same thing you are describing here. I used microdantin before and after intercourse and did this for a year and my UTI cleared up. I do not see why youd doc put you on such a strong med as Cipro when weaker ones are just as effective. Cipro has too many side effects and your being on it that long was a gamble. Have you tried diflucan for candida?
