Guest guest
OK girls, I just had to add my .02 on the shortening frosting debate. I actually use an OLD (crica 1940's?) frosting recipe that calls for shortening. Its from one of those free cookbooks that used to come from Crisco - yes Crisco! And believe it or not its such a good recipe that I've had people ask me for it. The main difference is that it calls for an egg and you make a quick 'syrup' out of sugar and water that seems to blend all the ingredients so well. I've replaced some of the shortening with butter on occasions, but straight shortening still turns out pretty darn good. Hard to believe I bet :) ehugs, Katcha > > that's because it IS shortening! I make my kids' birthday cakes and buttercream frosting is ...Crisco and powdered sugar!
