My white blood count however was low for about the lst 4 years of my illness then it went back up to normal. I'm not well, altho some symptoms are better/different over the years and went on to develop FM as well, but hopefully yours will raise back up too! The doc did have me taking powdered vitamins as even back then he did not think I was able to absorb vitamins in pill form at that stage. How long have you been ill??? Guest guest
My WBC count has been below the normal range for 5-6 years. I have had 'CFS' for 9 years. It was 3.7 two years ago and the most recent result in April was 2.8. My regular doc was a little concerned, but when I went to see an ENT about my chronic sinusitis, he almost freaked out and wants me to see a hematologist. To answer your question though, I haven't heard from many other PWCs who have low WBC counts. Those of us who have it may be in a certain subset or have something completely different like a chronic low grade infection. Guest guest
Hi Deborah, My son Stefan,16, is currently being tested for EE-he is about to go on steroids to try and help his E to calm down so he can swallow better. I have been searching the net for side effects from swallowed Budesonide, which is what he is supposed to take-and I can't find any where that says you should swallow it! Good luck to you. Sally not on the beach,in the rain (in London England) > > Hi, Achalasians, > > > > Just got some results back from two more tests and it was my first gastro. guy, not Conklin's office, that called. He seems to think that one test in inconclusive and that the other one shows that I've got an elevated white blood cell count in my stomach and lower esophagus. They are free-floating cells called eosinophils and they usually fight fun stuff like allergies and parasites (no, I do not have parasites, thank G-d! ugh), but now it looks as if my esophageal problems could be called EE, or, Eosinophilic Esophagitis. > > > > Anyone out there with experience with this one? Guest guest
What is in it? I looked at it but could only see G-E lipids and shark oil. I have no idea what G-E lipids are. Guest guest
Beth, It is very common in many of the Periodic Fever Disorders to have elevated WBC counts. My son ph as an infant and toddler always had elevated WBC's to an extreme... during episodes. He would run 30,000 to 70,000 and the docs always did more invasive studies since they feared missing meningitis or endocarditis or sepsis... Once he turned about 4 and up until now... they elevate only slightly to 13,000-26000... much better than when he was young. His temps also only rise to 104 max... and a dose of Motrin allow it to reduce to near normal for 6 to 10 hrs!! Again as an infant and toddler they would always go near 107.5 and medicating every 3 hrs alternating with tylenol and motrin they never or rarely went below 104 for 3 days and around 102.5 for the other 2-3 days. I am blessed now... it is much easier for me to handle at almost 8!! Guest guest
My son's is always around that same range. Sometimes quite a bit higher, but it always is back to normal in 4-6 days. tur_lizz <turlizz@...> wrote: I was wondering if anyones child with has elevated WBC counts during fever episodes? Guest guest
Thanks for replying, I had not read anywhere about patients having higher WBC counts.knowing others do this also puts my mind at ease. Ashtons fevers max at 105,and never go below 103 while alternating every 3 hours mortin and tylenol, but since we have started the steriod we never see above 102.5 (witch is the temp we give the steriod). thanks again for repling...Take care Beth > > Beth, > It is very common in many of the Periodic Fever Disorders to have elevated WBC counts. > > My son ph as an infant and toddler always had elevated WBC's to an extreme... during episodes. Guest guest
Hi` My son is 2 1/2 and he has always had elevated white blood cell counts during his fevers. This, according to my pediatrician, is completely normal, especially if goes down once the fever is over. > > I was wondering if anyones child with has elevated WBC counts > during fever episodes? Guest guest
Do any of you have problems with low white counts? i know the meds can cause it...my count was 3.7 and should be around 4.4 or something like that. Just wondering if any of you get this? I know enbrel and arava can affect them. Always something, huh? Hugs..a ************************************** Check out AOL's list of 2007's hottest products. Guest guest
I had a problem with a low white blood cell count while I was on methotrexate. My rheumy added Arava instead of increasing the mtx, but it just continued to decline. Arava was really working for me, too. When mine got to 2.2, he said that he'd had enough. I thought, " What about me? " After that, he took me off both meds, and I was on nothing while trying to get approval from my insurance company for Enbrel. Enbrel is working very well for me. I don't think that it affects the WBC count; at least, it doesn't affect mine. My most recent count was 4.4, with the Reference Range at the lab at 3.6-11.0.
