Guest guest
Interesting that two posts I received after posing my question about how to learn to " be " with your food and focus on your meal both supported the eating and reading with your meal, if that's what really felt nurturing and was your " thing. " After I posted that, I set aside my crossword puzzle when I had lunch on Saturday and decided to notice the sensations of my food going in my mouth, chewing, the texture and taste of the food, swallowing, the satisfaction of the food going into my stomach. Quite a revelation! But very, very hard to do that for the whole meal. So, while I think the suggestion in IE to eat with no distractions so that you can focus on your food is valid and probably an essential part of the progress that will be made with IE, it is probably an impossible, even undesirable, goal to do " perfectly, " as would be my inclination, and one that I will turn into one more " rule " that, if broken, sets me up for the failure mentality. I'm going to set a goal for myself to simply notice, from time to time, that I'm having a really great meal, doesn't it taste good and isn't it wonderful that I am sitting here with a great book (or great company), not berating myself or trying to limit my experience of the whole thing.
