Guest guest
> Normal blood sugar levels are 80 to 120 -- according to my doctor -- so yes, > 122 is great! Keep it up :-) Thanks ;-) I have revamped my food intake to cut out all those bad Oreo carbohydrates! The carbs I do eat are very carefully chosen. Since I have an organic vegetable farm, I'm trying to stick with the good stuff I grow and forget the other side of my personality ;-) (wsm311@...) Guest guest
<<You're welcome, :-) How wonderful to be able to have fresh, organic vegetables... what do you grow?>> Almost everything you've heard of and a few you probably haven't ;-) I have a notebook that's full from front to back of all my seeds on hand. I spend about $600/year on seeds....it's a non-fattening addiction ;-) We are still eating last year's shallots, leeks, garlic, potatoes and rutabagas from the root cellar. Our last frost was just 4 days ago. It's cold here in these Vermont mountains ;-) I've already been out picking wild stuff like ramps, fiddleheads, dandelion greens, frog's bellies and nettles. Mmmmmmmm.... Besides 2 acres of raised beds for vegies, we have a half acre orchard of apples, plums, cherries, pears, blueberries and elderberries. Then there are two huge patches of raspberries and too many rhubarbs to count. I have at least a couple dozen herb beds and 3 asparagus beds. We just got the first spears of the spring a couple of days ago. (wsm311@...) I only go to Burlington to buy good stuff at Cheese Traders ;-) Send your daughter over for a farm tour ;-) This last summer, my daughter got a job in Glacier National Park, Montana for a month with the Student Conservation Association. I drove her out there and kept going to WA and OR. Great trip!! My first SUMMER vacation in more than 20 years. We camped out 63 nights and drove 9000 miles. Just had to take a " slight " detour and see my mom in Arizona on the way home ;-) We usually travel 4-6 months of the winter, while the garden is frozen solid. (wsm311@...) Guest guest
this sounds like absolute heaven. i can't wait until cherry season (no clue when that is). i'm guessing and hoping that cherries are on our 'good' list. i love that kinda fruit. and peaches. don't care for apples (unless it's in a pie). neighbor just brought me 6 squash plants, and i'm thrilled. that should get me thru the summer. pat > > Besides 2 acres of raised beds for vegies, we have a half acre orchard of > apples, plums, cherries, pears, blueberries and elderberries. The first organic cherries just hit our local health food store. Heaven! My only problem with them is portion control. I'm sure they are allowed in limited quantities, but who wants to stop at ten cherries? I rinse a collander full of them and eat half of it at once ;@) So I only buy them occasionally as a treat. I know that if I counted or measured out the right serving and ate it as part of my lunch or dinner I'd be OK, but the darn things call to me in the middle of the afternoon or evening (come eat me! I'm soooooo good...) -- el (andrea@...) Nevada City, CA, USA " ...wake now! Discover that you are the song that the morning brings...
