That was stern enough for me, but not for my body. I did

make it through day 4 without eating something that I should

not, BUT there was no weight loss again this morning. I'm

reminding myself that there was also no weight gain. I did

drink another 100 oz of water. Does anyone know if you can

drink too much water? For my weight I only need 64-72.

I was pleased to not eat anything I should not on day 4,

which is always my downfall day. Now if I can just make

the weekend. Sigh, but I will stick with one meal and snack

at a time, that reminder seems to be working well for me.

Today is another Friday, so more treats. Well, I'm not sure

if it is good or bad news, but it was my turn to bring food

today. Everyone else around here always wants carby food,

and so I made some for them and some for me. They get to

eat muffins and bars (I won't go into the gory details as I

don't want to trigger anything more than I already have).

I also made a LC pumpkin cheesecake that I believe on a

rough estimate count may be 8.75 carbs per slice. That I

will have. It isn't low LC, but it will be okay, after all

I have had experience eating many many more carbs a day

that that will add to my otherwise 20-25 carb days. It

won't add that much as it will probably replace a snack that

would have been nuts.

Anyway, Terry put the guilt trip on me yesterday and I made

it through. I didn't even lick my fingers or the bowl when

making that other sinful stuff. I had bacon for breakfast.

Taco salad (made from a salad bar, so I could somewhat control

the ingredients) and green beans for lunch. Taco salad

and green beans - what a strange combination, huh? Then I

did all my baking when I got home, then sat down to chicken

wings and fauxpotatoes last night. I decided to save the

pork roast for this weekend as I will have more time to

figure out how to do it. I have had it cooked in the

crock pot with broth, but it isn't as good as the orange

glaze I used to do. Does anyone know if a glaze could be

made using SF Davinci orange syrup, guar gum as a thickener,

etc? If I use the syrup, I probably wouldn't need any

added Splenda would I? What say you?

Time for another slug of water, so drink up!

Well, I caved and yesterday decided that I would be more accountable

if I started using ketostix again. It seems like even tho I'm not

losing according to the scale, if the stix show I'm in ketosis, I am

strong enough to stay on program because I KNOW I am burning fat. So

today is day 1 all over again, with the help of my pals (the STIX

family,lol).

It is possible to drink too much water, but you would have to

drink about a gallon and a half within an hours time for it to

be " too much " . No, I think 100oz of water is just fine for a

day's intake. That quote on how much your body needs is how

much you need to function, it does not account for the fact

that you may need a little extra if you move around during the

day. (did you sweep your car off this morning?)

You're a nicer person than I am. :) When I bring snacks to

work it is *always* food for me. I usually bring in veggies

and a dip. Strangely enough, everyone seems to enjoy them

just the same. If it really needs to be a breakfast treat,

often I will bring in a veggie fritatta (a giant one that I

baked in a cake pan) and people always *rave* about those

because they like a nice hot breakfast. (easy to make, take

eggs, beat with some water so the mixture is kinda frothy,

fold in 1 bag of mixed veggies, I use birdseye special blends

mushrooms, broccoli, onions and red peppers, and cheese, bake

in the oven about 1 hr. or until it looks pretty done. I

spray the pan with pam. So it's not too greasy, sometimes I

flip the fritatta out and wash the cake pan out then put the

fritatta back in, but that's just a personal kind of thing.

I know did something with the pork roast using some

Atkins maple syrup, maybe she can advise you on what she did

and you could adapt it to your needs. However, I can't let it

go without making something up. What I would do is just try

it out on a pork chop. I would take the orange syrup and some

water (Just my personal opinion, but I think straight syrup

would be icky) and warm it on the stove and add in whatever

other ingredients you might use. I would probably consider

some soy sauce. Then, in a little cup I would mix some

xanthan gum (whatever) with some cold water to make sure there

are no lumps. Bring the syrup mixture to a quick boil and

dump the gum in, remove from heat and mix until thickened. At

that point you can taste it and see if it's nasty. :)

Otherwise, rub it on your pork chop and bake!

Well, Nan, you have your own little support system there. You can

make as many stix people as you need to keep you on track. :-)

Well, you know what to do, just dust yourself off and start again.

That's what I like about my one meal or snack at a time challenge

to myself. If I had to think of it as two weeks of good eating

or more, I would fail. I know that I cave too easily and having

to always go back and think of day 1 of 2 weeks is too hard. Now

that I have experienced maintaining for the better part of last

year, saying two weeks is just too hard for me. Asking myself to

do it for this one meal isn't as threatening. It allows me to

think that the next meal I can do XXX, but of course the next

meal I just ask myself to get through this meal, and maybe it will

add up to 2 weeks. At least I made it to day 5.

I am doing okay so far today, a little higher due to the cheesecake,

but that is still better than the other options I brought for

break today. Everyone liked my pumpkin cheesecake I explained that

it was low carb and make with Splenda and an almond flour crust to

help me stay on my low carb weight loss plan. But since I am

the only low carber there, they didn't appreciate that it would

help me lose weight but make them get fat! LOL I also brought my

ISI cream whipper in case anyone wanted to add whipped cream. Well,

I think more people were excited about the cream whipper than any

of the food options. LOL The brownies are all gone, there are only

four muffins left and three pieces of cheesecake. I will put the

rest back out this afternoon so I won't have to worry about any of

the muffins being left. I wish I could keep the cheesecake to myself,

but on the other hand, I wouldn't want to over do the LC desserts

even though I could probably get away with it.

Today will be my biggest lunch challenge. We are going to the pizza

buffet with the outstanding dessert pizza. I'll try to stick with

the chicken and salad or just pizza toppings, but I love that cactus

bread!

Thanks for the answer on the water. I didn't think you could

realistically drink too much. I will have to remember your

suggestion for the frittata. I thought very strongly about just

bringing a meat and cheese tray and some crackers for those

that wanted them. They don't tempt me. Veggies and dip would

be good too. I will remember next time, it would be a lot

easier.

Your suggestions for a glaze sound good too. It would be

fairly easy to do something with a maple syrup. I don't have

Atkins or Davinci maple, but I have the log cabin and that

sounds easy. Do you get the impression I like easy? LOL

I think this time I might try your suggestion though since

I saved it for a weekend, I will have time to work on the

" glaze " . I can do the maple syrup idea when I do it quick

sometime during the week. The idea of trying it out on a

pork chop first is also good, would hate to ruin the whole

pork loin if it is icky. I also like the reminder that I

can try the glaze prior to using it. That alone should be

a good enough indicator as to how it would taste. I'm

curious though as to why you would add water? Is there something

my kitchen-challenged mind isn't getting?

Thanks again for the ideas!

You're welcome, Terry. I'm glad you didn't see just how close I came to

licking those darn beaters from the brownie mix. I had them up to my face

with my tongue ready to come out and gosh darn, I remembered I couldn't do

it. I bet you all are really glad you don't have to eat anything I bake,

huh? LOL

So, Terry, what did you do with your day? Or did you keep sleepy little

Kaitlyn awake all day to play with you and Art?

From watching you the past few days, you can do it. Gosh, I will

be so excited when I'm as close to my goal as you are now.

Think thin is better than tasting good. (And healthier too)

That's what I keep telling myself, sometimes every hour! LOL

Well, I spent the day admiring my daughter. She gave me a marvelous

birthday gift . . . . as I was holding her and talking to her, she smiled at

me, not once, but on four separate occasions. Definitely not gas! And, her

umbilical cord fell off yesterday. It was quite a day. She's eating like a

trooper, and I put her on the scale with me. It appears as though she may

be somewhere around 8 pounds now, up from her birthweight 12 days ago of 7

pounds 3 ounces. Her little cheeks are filling out and she definitely feels

heavier.

Yesterday afternoon, Kaitlyn and I got out and went down to the Library to

1) show her off to the ladies with whom I work and 2) pick up my paycheck

and 3) trouble-shoot some computer problems. She created quite a stir!

They had put up a banner over the circulation desk, complete with pictures

of Kaitlyn. She's become, in her short little life, quite a local

celebrity.

And, I checked in periodically to see what my little list family was up to .

.. . you are all working so hard to help one another. It's very heartwarming

to see so much love flowing back and forth among our list members.

Keep up the good work, gang! I'm watching everything that is posted, even

if I don't answer everything! Besides, Robin knows everything and I know

she'll straighten you all out if you screw up anything!

Nope, I just think that (for me) using all that syrup would be

too much so I would use part syrup part water. It's just a

personal preferance thing.

Now, if you're asking about why I put water in the eggs for

the fritatta, that's something I learned (okay, had pounded

into me) by a bunch of chef buddies. When you use water to

thin the eggs and then whip it up nice and frothy the whole

thing comes out a bit fluffier.

Well, I'm bumfuzzled. I just checked with the stix and I am modereate

ketosis, even after yesterdays bust.I had turkey bacon 3 slices, and 2

eggs for breakfast, followed by 2 cups of decaf with cream and

splenda. For lunch I'm having hot wings and salad.Lots of cold water

(1 good thing about Oklahoma, the water in the winter is always cold

Good going on your 1 meeal challengs...you and i both know that it can

I made it through lunch, barely. I had a piece of that cactus bread on my

plate and gave it to my sister instead of eating it. It looked so good, but

I knew that after 4 days of strict

LC eating it wouldn't taste as good as I remembered anyway, so why blow it.

Dwen is right, being thin is better than a very, very temporary taste of

something good. It may taste good for the 5 minutes it takes to eat it, but

it's not worth the time it takes to get it back off in weight.
