Join the Carbsmart lowcarb recipe exchange...you'll get lowcarb recipes in

your email practically every day. All kinds...main dishes, desserts, soups,

etc. I think you cn get there by going to www.carbsmart.com then find the

button for " lowcarb recipe exchange " or something similar.

According to the USDA database, one medium banana has about 25 g. digestible

carbs (net of the fiber). Since I only eat about 30 g. carbs/day, I just

avoid them.

Pat, I love stuffed peppers, as well as stuffed cabbage....Just make it

without the rice.....Try subbing it for a lentil.....BTW, has anyone

tried Lentil Pasta....I tried it, and it's not too bad...Thicker in

texture, but it fooled me....Also, can anyone tell me how to prepare

Chana Dall...I bought 2 bags of the stuff and the nice little Indian guy

couldn't explain how to cook it...He didn't speak English very

well...Thanks in advance, Dawn

Actually, bell peppers are good, and the corned beef is OK -- it's mostly

protein with a few carbs from the seasoning, but not many. Onions are OK in

moderation, but they actually have quite a bit of sugar. Others might have

suggestions re: what to put with the meat.

I suspect you will find rice will have to go, like most starchy grain

products.

Cashews are fairly high in carbs, so they don't generally work well.

Pretzels are just bread with a different shape. Nuts that are low in

digestible carbs include: almonds, hazelnuts (sometimes called filberts),

walnuts, macadamia nuts. Cheese makes a good snack. For something chewy,

jerky works if it has not been cured with sugar or honey. Boiled eggs even

come in their own wrapping. Read the labels for packaged foods.

In spite of what you may have been told, many of us have found that fats are

not the enemy, carbs are.

well, dentist took me off almonds after one broke a tooth to pieces. but

last nite, i had celery, and some dip, and that worked. i hate pork rinds,

but i found once before, with a little peanut butter, it's tolerable. not

good, but tolerable.

and i think i'm going to try to find a recipe for fried mushrooms. not

dipped in batter, but maybe " fake fried " . or squash. not the same, but

something to eat with that burger. pat

i got them delivered. i now realize the exercise would have done me better;

saved my having to box stuff up to return; and educated me.

i did get some salsa to put on top of my chicken. that had 3-4 grams of

carbs. i'm guessing that that would be less if i just use a tbs. or so just

to top the chicken (baked with lemon or lime, herbs and butter). but i'm

going to run thru the list someone sent last nite, pick out the heavy carb

stuff and write it down, and then wwrite down the light carb stuff. and

next time i visit the market, i will make sure.

BTW, critters didn't like my bananas. i may just bake them in some yummy

muffins, and then donate the results. i hate tossing, and that way, i can

use up the flour i have, the bananas, and make someone's day. pat (who can

tolerate not testing muffins)

hey dawn

1. channa dhal is easy soak it for 30 mins in water, turmeric, 1 tblsp.

garlic/ginger paste. then boil it in 2-6 cups water depending on how much

channa you took. when it is soft add salt, a little red chilli. normaly we

add some tomota here 1 fresh chopped but its up to you. one lemon, garnish

with chopped corriander and green chillies.

to add variety you can add green squash peeled chopped. or snow peas.

2. another option is to grind the whole thing in blender after boiling.

adding more lemon and cooking it a little to thicken then eat it with a

whole wheat chapati(home made bread).

3. version blender it and add chopped onions instead of lemon the coook till

thick then use it as a dressing for salad or eat with low carb toast or

omelette .

Daal is cooked at my home everyday and for two weeks we don't repeat the

recipe......so go ahead trt the different daals and their method all need

some spice and some boiling.

well, that has not subsided. i think the glocotrol and another new med may

have just needed time to get adjusted to my body. i was having some tummy

problems.

i have an exercise bike, and thinking about either getting treadmill or the

thing that's like a skiing machine with poles.

do you have the name of the commercial low-carb snacks?? right now, while

feeling deprived and irritated, i think i may invest in some. later, after

i'm a little slimmer, i hope i won't want the snacks. pat

i was thinking of hiring a " personal chef " in the area. i have no clue how

much that would cost, but even if it were a little pricey, if they could get

me through the first few months of actually sticking to this, and getting my

body to not want the bad stuff, it would be worth it. pat

Pat,

You don't really need a recipe... just clean the mushrooms by washing well

in cold water, cut off the end of the stems, and slice. Sautée in about a

tsp. of butter that's been melted in the pan. It doesn't take much as

mushrooms have so much water. I like mine just a little bit browned. Add a

little salt & pepper. Yum.... great as a side dish. They're also good

cooked whole, but then it's easier if you cut off the whole stem. Cook them

on one side 'till brown and turn.
