Hi kelly,

I am a 48 year old charger. I suppose that means I have 48 years of

experience but not sure since I've only known about the diagnosis for less

than a year now.

welcome!

how did you end up having your ob check the labs? you were more fortunate than me - i wish i had paid more attention to the symptoms and went further but i had just got off the pill to try to get pg when it all started and she said it would take a couple months for perrriods etc to regulate then of course i was packing on the weight fast and expressing my concern and long story short it took her 8 months and a good 75 lbs later to do a hormone blood check - i was hypoT - got on synthroid and lost 35 lbs then got pg (LOL) then i had a baby 2/19/2003 and got messed up with her - went into hashi'sT so they took me off my meds andd saiddd go see your dr 2 weeks later - my TSH was 74 by then and i could barely get out of bed....its been a constant struggle since and its now progressed into hashi's encephalopathy and i'm being treated ffor that - and like you said with 2 little kids there isn't time for mommy to be sick plus i have this usually understanding husband who at times gets fed up of me and gets mean but i will get through this as we all will........sorry to run on like that - seems to be a side effect of my meds lately.

i'm glad you found the group - its the best thing thats ever happened to me.

Hello. My name is Bethany e, I am married and have 3 young children...I have no time for fatigue! LOL I found this group through doing a search on the internet and am hoping to find some answers. I have almost all of the symptoms of hypothyroidism...yet my blood tests aren't showing a problem. I just got the test results back yesterday from my ob, she will call back on Mon and I'm going to ask what the numbers are. There's a checklist on a thyroid site and I have almost all the symptoms, that's why I find myself so stumped and frustrated and even confused about all of this. It's very frustrating, actually.Anyway, thank you for letting me join, especially since I haven't been diagnosed or anything yet. Bethany

Welcome, Bethany. Do you have copies of your tests? Odds are the docs

aren't even ordering the right tests...

Hi , Welcome

I've not been through the surgery, and no cancer.. but I've been through RAI. They had to kill my gland, I was in thyroid storm. That was about 15 years ago.

Getting rid of the entire gland via surgery and RAI should have gotten all of it... so they'll just monitor for any new activity of thyroid tissue... they may repeat the RAI if there is. For now, you body is going to do some adjusting.

How were your thyroid levels before surgery? Were you hyper or hypo?

Some docs handle this next part by adding thyroid medication right away, some wait for a while to see if the thyroid kicks back in, signalling that they didn't kill all of it... So it depends on your doc and how everything looked.

Do you know yet which medication your doc will put you on? Most choose the synthetics, like Synthroid... but the better choice for those of us with no thyroid function is Natural Thyroid, like Armour... it gives us all the components that our own glands did while they were still working.

The next step, most likely will be labs to see what your thyroid hormone levels are doing... Request copies of those, and we'll help you to understand what the numbers mean.

We're here to help with questions... or to listen to you scream.. which ever may happen to come along...

Welcome.

Hello, My name is and I was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer about 6 months ago. I beleive that I have had it longer but none of the tests came back positive. It started when I felt a lump on my neck and went downhill from there. I then had the biopsy, 2 surgeries to remove both sides and I just had my radiation Iodine last week. Im hoping that this is it but I still am feeling really lousy. Im 25 yrs old and used to being so active and now I feel like sleeping and puking all the time!!!! I hope you can shed some light on how long before you feel "normal" because I am getting really depressed about the whole thing. Please help me understand my symptoms and it would be nice to talk to someone who has been through the same things.Thank you Mesa, Arizona

Are you saying that you now have no thyroid at all, right? Which thyroid

disease were you diagnosed with? What are your most recent thyroid lab

results, and what is your doctor's plan of action with you, since your last

surgery? Are you on any thyroid med right now, or are they waiting on this?

Were you hypo or hyper during a time before your surgeries? So many

questions, I know, but necessary to get started here. Have you had your

ferritin (amt of iron in storage, NOT serum iron), B12, Folic Acid, or any

other tests done to see if you have a nutritional deficiency, which is very

common with long ongoing chronic thyroid disease. I have to assume that you

had some form of thyroid disorder way before the cancer was discovered,

either undetected or detected and undertreated, maybe?

hi laura. im glad you found us. yes, we have some caring and understanding people here

-- Newbie

Good morning everyone, my name is Laurie and I was diagnosed with FMS 2 years ago. I am a 40 y/o SAHM mom, and have been married to my dh for 7 years, he is my rock, he is so understanding of my FMS and is always there for me, even when he is working nights and I call him at 2:00 in the morning, crying, for his gentle voice to calm me down and help me stop crying because of the pain. However, *LOL*, he has days when he doesn't notice that, as someone mentioned, dinner won't make itself when I have a bad day and he needs to at least get up off his tookus and help me out or God willing, just do it himself! My daughter is almost 11, going on 30...ughhhhh...., she has hit puberty early, and hubby's kids are 22 and 30, they do not live with us as they are all grown up. I love dh's kids as they were my own. They're great kids! OH and I have a wonderful DL that I reminds me of Dharma from the TV show! She's awesome!I joined last week and have been reading the e-mail's trying to get a feel for this board and I have to say it is very touching to read about all of your aches, pains, good days and bad days.I was having some very good days up until last week, when the Fibro monster reared his ugly head again. It's nice to have a group of individuals who know how you feel, or how much pain your in, so you don't feel so alone in the world. It's like I don't have to have my own pity party alone anymore! :'( I look forward to new relationships here on this msg board and sending gentle hugs to each and everyone of you who happens to need one, because I may need one too!Warm regards;Laurie in TX O:)1. While it is wonderful to share our experiences with everyone on the list as to what treatments do and don't work for us, pls always check with your dr. Some treatments are dangerous when given along with other meds as well as to certain health conditions or just dangerous in general.2. If you are in a difficult situation (doesn't matter what it is) pls don't be afraid to ask for help. It is the first step to trying to make that situation better.Have a nice day everyone.

Thank you Theresa!

Just reading a lot of these posts makes me feel that I have found

comfort in knowing there are a lot of others out there like myself.

Hugs...
