Job vacancy: Radio Trainer, Local Voices India

Location: Chennai, India

Please note: This is a local labor position with no relocation or

expatriate benefits. This is a full-time position.

Internews Network is currently seeking a Radio Trainer to conduct

training for broadcast journalists under our Local Voices youth-

focused health reporting project in India. Local Voices is designed

to support print media and radio broadcasters in creating high-

quality, locally relevant coverage of HIV/AIDS issues for their

audiences and provide support for NGOs in their communication with

media.

Essential duties and responsibilities of the position include

the following:

• Organize and teach seminars and workshops for local radio station

professionals.

• Provide on-going follow-up and mentorship to trainees,

including editing of scripts and formulation of story ideas.

• Develop curriculum for workshops.

• Liaise with local organizations and HIV/AIDS specialists to

provide technical expertise for training and mentoring.

• Assist Project Director and the Director of HIV/AIDS

Programs with preparation of materials for monthly and quarterly

reports, in compliance with donor guidelines.

QUALIFICATIONS

• At least 5 years radio news and radio talk show experience,

producing packages with natural sound.

• Have extensive experience in using sound recording equipment

such as minidisk recorders and digital sound editing programs such

as Adobe/Cool Edit/Nuendo.

• At least 4 years experience in health reporting.

• Thorough understanding of the technical, political and social aspects of

HIV/AIDS in India.

• Radio station training experience.

• Experience living and working in region.

• Ability to handle multi-faceted programs.

• Excellent writing and communication skills.

• Ability to prioritize and handle multiple on-going assignments.

• Relevant degree.

• Native-level English as well as fluent Tamil.
