I've just been catching up with the posts... For those who might be

thinking that there's no difference between low and high carb... All

I can say is 'Give both a two week trial'.

I've been LCing since Jan. and lost 35 pounds. I've been diabetic

for about a year, and the combination of diet, exercise and metformin

was working beautifully. Compliments started coming in, and I felt

great.

Two weeks ago, my husband went out of town for a week, and I took

control of all food prep for myself and 3 teenage boys. My meals

were on time and included more and more carbs - ever so gradually.

At first, I could handle the extra carbs - no problem. Maybe this

diabetes thing was just a big mistake, after all!!! No more time for

walking. Exhaustion reappeared. I stopped weighing myself and

testing.

My husband came back last Friday, and increased carbs with little

exercise continued.

In desperation, I skipped lunch on Mon. and Tues. to try to get 'back

on track'. I ate like crazy when I arrived home. Carbs, of course.

I got a HORRIBLE headache last night, passed out without testing, and

woke up with night sweats. (They've been gone for several months)

The headache was accompanied by nausea this morning, and I called in

sick - slept 'til noon. So far, I've eaten 2 eggs and half of a

banana with black decaf and 500 mg of metformin. I'm scared to weigh

myself, to test, or eat. I know I will eat, but I no longer trust

myself to choose the right food.

If anyone is thinking about changing what works for them and adding

more carbs, please read what I've written. I wouldn't wish the

feeling I have today on anyone!!

Gail
