Hi Mo,

Not inappropriate suggestion at all, thanks! I will be stress dosing

the day of the surgery and for several days afterwards. They'll be

taking out right ovary, biopsy, if comes back malignant then will

have a complete hysterectomy and lymph node removal. I have a cyst

the size of a baby's head on my right ovary, but this isn't the

REALLY worrisome part - I also have a couple of uneven-edged dark

spots on the ovary besides that, which the doctor says looks

suspicious and might be malignant. So I've got to go have all this

done.

All you have to do is ask the anesthesiologist to put solumedrol in your IV.

They do it all the time and it is no big deal. If you just say you are on

HC, they may not get that you may run out during surgery. Having the medrol

in your IV and a follow up dose 8 hrs later, is easy and will keep your

adrenals from being stressed. That is what I did during my surgery.

at least six weeks, not three. Just to KNOW what my adrenals are

doing after stopping and be sure of what they're capable of.

I'm going to go ahead and write it on the pre-op paper at the pre-op

dr. visit at his office where they ask you to list all the

medications being taken, and I'll also write it on the hospital pre-

op papers when I go in for the surgery, AND I'll make sure the

anesthesiologist knows when he comes in to ask me just before the

surgery what medication I'm taking.

If the doc wants me to go off the HC, I will refuse, and he will

then have the option of not going through with the surgery, or going

ahead. His choice at that point.

if he did.As long as the guy putting you to sleep knows(talk to him

right before)thats all it takes,he's the one in control while your

out.As long as he knows you'll be just fine.I was.Actually they gave

me so much afterwards,I barly had any pain, so think about the good

and tell him I'm on HC and see if he will do that. I suppose the Dr.

has to order it even so, or sign off on it or something.

I wouldn't just say you are on HC. They might just say, " OK, thanks for

telling me " . I would request solumedrol to be put in your IV. It is like

stress dosing and they do it all the time and if you have any adrenal issues

at all, being put to sleep during surgery is a huge stressor on the body. I

personally, will not have surgery without solumedrol.

When I told my surgeon about my adrenal issues he just said no problem, I

will get the anesthesiologist to put medrol in your IV.

The doctor does not have to order it, anesthesiologists are doctors and can

do it without another doctor ordering it. They prefer to do it, it is

insurance for them that your adrenals won't give out during surgery. I

would not request it, I would say you have to have it.

I've written down the name of the drug Solumedrol and will

definitely bring it up to the anesthesiologist when he comes in to

talk to me. Thanks very much.

Are you self-treating? Is that the issue?

say to the anesthesiologist is that you are taking HC for adrenal

insufficiency. Period.

It's really irrelevant which dr rx'd, etc. Is the surgeon your only

I would start telling these drs what they are going to do - stop

asking for their permission. Let the ovarian specialist do his thing

& focus on the ovaries. Your adrenals are not his problem, with the

exception of telling him that you're on HC for ADRENAL INSUFFICIENCY.

Never, never say adrenal fatigue to an allopathic dr, unless you're

chatting with Dr. Peatfield!

Are you self-treating? Is that the issue?

I know it's probably too late now for the surgeon, but what you could

say to the anesthesiologist is that you are taking HC for adrenal

insufficiency. Period.

It's really irrelevant which dr rx'd, etc. Is the surgeon your only

dr? Probably not.

I would start telling these drs what they are going to do - stop

asking for their permission. Let the ovarian specialist do his thing

& focus on the ovaries. Your adrenals are not his problem, with the

exception of telling him that you're on HC for ADRENAL INSUFFICIENCY.

Never, never say adrenal fatigue to an allopathic dr, unless you're

chatting with Dr. Peatfield!

Best of luck to you dear! Please, please, please don't chose not to

tell the drs. You MUST tell them. You can die without the

solumedrol. And we wouldn't want that!

I agree with you in that we need to stop asking for permission. Minutes

before my surgery, it was obvious that there was no definite decision

regarding my HC and the surgery. My " request " to the anesthesiologist was

made minutes before surgery and the anesthesia doc was totally agreeable to

putting the medrol in my IV. He called it a steroid boost and said they do

it all the time. even without adrenal issues if they hear your concern, it

is no big deal to put it in the IV. It is insurance for you and them.
