Amy:

Dr. Merritt tested me for heavy metals and of course, I was positive for

lead, but negative for mercury. That was a problem cause my hyperbaric

doctor (Hwy 3 in Webster) tested me for mercury and I was over the 100th

percentile. My hyperbaric doc (Sprague) had me send in a stool sample

because mercury is excreted into the stool for most people. There are an

unlucky few who do not excrete it much and their body hangs onto it. Since

Merritt only does the urine testing, my mercury did not show up. Dr.

Sprague sent me to Merritt because I tested positive for the mercury.

Anyway, I did test positive for lead, as most middle aged and older folks do

since the bone starts turning over more quickly and the lead stored there is

released into the body, increasing the levels of lead, triggering heart

attacks and other problems.

I had 17 chelation treatments by her. I would NOT go to her for hormones

tho. She was irritated at me for being on Armour and told me to get off it

and she would prescribe T4 only. Of course I agreed but ignored her. She

also will totally mess up your billing. My insurance paid for all 17

treatments (most insurance companies will pay since lead poisoning is

serious). Months later she decided to rebill me for several thousand. I

complained to her nurse and was told that Dr. M had gone over everyones

bills and charged many people who actually did not owe anything.

My point is that she is good at chelation but you must treat her like most

on the group say about doctors. Make your own informed decisions and don't

listen to her about Armour or HC.

She probably prescribes natural hormones but fortunately I have two other

docs who prescribe them for me. I do not feel the hormones do much for me

and have slowed down in taking them.

Merritt also offers other treatments I have tried for Lyme, like hydrogen

peroxide treatments. I will follow up with a few chelation treatments per

year to keep the lead levels down. Her treatments do nothing for mercury

and Sprague has me on DMSA. She will insist that mercury is chelated with

her EDTA treatments. It may be but it is low on the list of things the EDTA

will chelate first so one must use DMSA or DMSO to get rid of mercury.

Call me if you need any info. I can sent you my phone number in a private

email.

Dr. Merritt, that's the one! Does she REALLY, now? I'll have to find

out where that Clear Lake office is. . .and the insurance thing, too.

And she does BHRT as well?

Thanks, Dr. ! I'll be calling her first, for sure.
