I am going to Ixtapa in a week and ahalf and I am worried about drinking even

the bottled water. Has anyone gone there and drank the water. I am looking

forward to going but worried also about sticking to the program because I love

mexican food.

I would drink bottled stuff - no ice! No frozen drinks either. Eat

food that comes to your table still very hot - avoid salads,

guacamole, fruits that have been washed in water. I know a lady that

developed amoebic disentary in Ixtapa - never beleive hotels and

restaurants that say their water is safe, they all do. Even if it is

safe to drink for the locals, it will probably not agree w/ you!

Bring antibacterial gel, apply to hands frequenlty through out the

day.

It is acutally pretty easy to eat in Mexico, their Mexican food is

nothing like the Tex-Mex you get here. Have eggs & bacon or steak

for bfast - I don't know about the cream? But it is probably fresh.

One problem there is food storage, I have seen stuff left our

uncovered for long periods of time. Expect lots of seafood, if you

like this, you will be in heaven. You might bring a small cooler

w/ you w/ cream and cheese to snack on, and bring other portable

snacks like nuts & jerkey.

Have fun - I've never been to Ixtapa, tell us all about it when you

get back!

Hold up there just a minute. You will still want to be careful of the carb

counts and preparation/sauces w/ seafood. On the bright side if you shop

til you drop and then swim to recover you might lose more weight. Be sure

and keep hydrated. Ask your Dr. and pharmacist for any special survival

items. They can put together an array of pills to be prepared for most

problems the change of locations presents. Ask also about tablets to purify

water. Remember your normal vitamins and meds as well, Mexico does not have

the same suppliers we do of many pharmaceuticals.
