I'm with you, Ivy, my buttercream frosting is made with butter! I'm curious about all these sheet-cakes-are-nasty posts. I wonder, if everyone eating store bought sheet cakes? 'Cause when I'm in the mood for chocolate cake, nothing makes me happier than a big piece of made from scratch Texas sheet cake. Mmmm....iv_adb wrote: I haven't had crisco since..hm...1996? I use butter for 'buttercream; (go figure :))., whipped cream or cream cheese frostings are good, too.>> that's because it IS shortening! I make my kids' birthday cakes and buttercream frosting is ...Crisco and powdered sugar! Blech! .

Or Corn Syrup. I made a quick " buttercream " from a recipe that used

corn syrup. I usually make Martha s butter cream that uses,

erm, buttah.

The corn syrup one was not the same. I think it was to get

that " crackle " that the groery store cakes have? You know how their

frosting is kinda crunchy, yet a bit greasy?
