We got the results of my mom's biopsy & we're happy to say that they were NEGATIVE! Also I had a little accident of my own this weekend. I was at an all night skating thing with my church & I was skating one way & a kid was skating backwards from the middle of the rink & ran into me & in instinct I went to break my fall with my hands & my right wrist got hurt. I iced it right away & it was fine for a while. I got home at around 8:30 am & put my mom's wrist brace on thinking that would help & went to bed. I got up at around noon & my wrist was hurting like heck so we went into the ER & they did x-rays & they couldn't tell if it was fractured or badly sprained so they splinted it & are treating it like a fracture. There do seem to be a lot of true believers in their products. And and Alan, I deeply appreciate your weighing in on how hard I should push for a second opinion on the biopsy. I think your point about it having been a negative read, versus a possible missed call on a Gleason score, is a good one. He'll be closely followed. I think I need to keep my lip zipped for now. Again, thank you for giving me your knowledgeable and male viewpoint. McCartney, no, I don't think he had the "free" PSA test. I've read something about that. From googling, I see that can help distinguish between a high or rising PSA score resulting from benign prostatic hyperplasia versus prostate cancer. I think when his doctors "felt something" with the digital rectal exam, they took the most conservative approach and called for a biopsy. ly, I'm glad they did. I'd rather they be conservative than write it off to BPH. But if someone was really opposed to having a prostate biopsy, that sounds like it would be a good first step at least.
