Guest guest
, Your personal response is about as right-on as it gets! :-) Life is all about moderation. Overdo the fat, you clog your arteries. Overdo the carbs your blood glucose goes sky high. Overdo the protein and you're beating up your kidneys. Overdo the --- well, everyone gets the idea. And try as we all might to be as healthy as possible, we all have to face those Pearly Gates, some sooner, some later. If we try our best to behave ourselves, we'll all hope for 'later'. Something I learned from working as a floor nurse in my early hospital career that put having diabetes in perspective......one of my patients was a 16 year old boy that broke his neck playing football. He was permanently paralyzed from his neck down. The majority of things most of us take for granted in life, he would never be able to experience. Diabetes is a serious problem, but in the 'big picture' of what can go wrong in life, it's pretty tame compared to many other illnesses. That doesn't make it any easier to live with at times, but with diet, medication, and exercise, we can pretty much control our destiny to the greater extent. Just something to think about when you have one of those 'woe is me' days we all go through every once in a while. :-) Bonnie http://groups.yahoo.com/group/No_More_Needles Insulin Jet Injectors In a message dated 4/26/02 8:37:33 PM Eastern Daylight Time, diabetes_int writes: > My own personal response to all this nonsense is somewhat different, and > here it is...Everyone dies of something, and no one gets out of here alive. > People who eat the best organic foods > and live in the cleanest places still die of cancer.
