Guest guest
All. Got my lab results back and overall, not bad. LDL is higher than it should be at 108 and my liver enzymes were up so they had to pull me off lipitor. I don't understand that and was wondering if anyone else has had something like this happen? I took 10 mg only twice a week for about 3.5 years. About 5 months ago my liver enzymes started going up. We waited 3 months did it again and way high so she pulled me off lipitor. The only thing I started taking was aspirin daily. My doc swears that cannot raise liver enzymes but I dunno if I buy that one. Others... opinion on that? Also, my creatinine was at 1.9 wich is up from before at 1.7. pat, I know yours went up there what did you do to get it back down? here were my levels and she forgot to get CRP done... a1c 5.2 ldl 108 hdl 56 triglisirites 102 creatinine 1.9 BUN 25 Regards,
Guest guest
Congratulations on having excellent lab results. Your LDL:HDL ratio is excellent a lot less than 3.0, in fact it is slightly less than 2.0, so you are good to go. You are in the range for very low risk of a heart attack. Your A1C is excellent. I would recommend forgetting about taking aspirin and stick to taking flush free niacin daily from now on. Your lipid levels are to be envied by many. question and lab results > All. > > Got my lab results back and overall, not bad. Guest guest
She already has me on a new cholesterol medication that is not as effective as lipitor but does not effect the liver. Cannot recall the name but I think it starts with a C. I think it lowers LDL 10 to 20 points where as lipitor is a lot more. However, 20 points is all I need grin. I appreciate the advice and I will keep all this in mind. She has me scheduled to go for blood work again in 1 month just to see if my liver encymes are back down after being off lipitor. I'll keep everyone updated. Regards, question and lab results All. Got my lab results back and overall, not bad. Guest guest
thanks hary but you still beat me on the a1c *grin*. yours was 4.9 adn I don't know if I'll see it~! I still am stumped as to why liver enzuymes are up. 10 mg of lipitor twice a week is peanuts. Makes me think something else might be up but i dunno. I may investigate the niacin too. Guest guest
If you are a diabetic, and especially if you are a type 1 diabetic, take one or two B complex tablets per day forever along with a therapeutic dose of niacin daily forever. The cost of this recommendation will be around $5 per month, and you will experience fewer complications due to diabetes and you will probably have to put up with living an extra ten to twenty years of life. question and lab results > > > > All. > > > > Got my lab results back and overall, not bad. Guest guest
: I'm on something called " tricor " . I suspect that because I'm on dilantin, the medicos wanted to keep away from statins that might also affect liver function. Wonder if that's the one you're on? Guest guest
I found it! And talk about being wrong! First of all, it didn't start with a C it started with a Z! *laugh*. It is pronounced Zit E Ah (read that one word at a time for the phonetic pronounciation) and is spelled zetia. Wondering what folks think about this new medicationI am on. Opinions and thoughts welcomed. Here is the scoop on it at this link: http://www.zetia.com/ezetimibe/zetia/consumer/index.jsp Regards, question and lab results > > > > All. > > > > Got my lab results back and overall, not bad. Guest guest
Guest guest
Mike, on the below site is a link to read a pdf for prescribers/doctors for zetia. Wondering if you had any thoughts on the documentaiton for it. Is a 13 page pdf adn I know you were into biology/and i think chemistry. Not certain if you can derive any stuff from the prescribers pdf but if you can, feel free to share. I read it fine after it was translated to an accessible format via adobe acrobat reader 7.
