Guest guest
OK NOW I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN UNDER THE IMPRESSION THAT MY KIDS AKA MONSTERS ARE COOTIES ... WHEN ANDY AND I ARE PLAY FIGHTING HE ALWAYS TELLS ME WELL YOU GAVE ME COOTIES 3 TIMES .. I TELL HIM HEY WAIT A MINUTE YOU GAVE ME COOTIES THREE TIMES AND EACH TIME IT TOOK 9 + MONTHS TO GET RID OF THE COOTIE ...LOL... JUST HAD TO SHARE ROMIE Sharon, Cooties are bugs, sort of like lice, but more mythical than real. Here, we have a kid's game called CootieBug, and it is a plastic bug's body with separate pieces for legs, head, facial features, etc. You make points and add body parts and the first one to complete a "cootie" wins the game. It's a way of teasing someone by saying they are "untouchable" because of body bugs. It has become an American idiom used mostly by school children born since WWII and before VietNam. Hope that answers your question. Just for laughs, nowadays. Love, MM
