Guest guest
Val, I am still battling to solve my low aldosterone problem. I need to understand this better. I understand that adrenal insufficiency will cause low aldosterone. I took care of that months ago with Cortef, but I still have low aldosterone per blood test and all the uncomfortable symptoms that go along with it, esp. lightheadedness and low BP. I eat tons of salt and I drink sea salt water all day for a few months now. This has not changed. So, if adrenal insufficiency causes this, then why hasn't treating adrenals helped this? Also, would licorice root be better for low aldosterone than Cortef? I feel weak, am never ever thirsty and get lightheaded when standing. I also cannot tolerate standing in one place for too long, e.g. in a line or sitting in an upright position for long, I need to either be moving constantly or laying back to feel comfortable posturally. What else can be CAUSING this and what else can I do about it besides Florinef (which I couldn't tolerate) and the other things I've been doing? Should I be looking into some other more seriously underlying problem, e.g. adrenal autoimmunity, etc. I do have hashi's antibodies..l Thanks for any help Re: Re:Val meds >>*****do you take the T3 sublingual too? If you swallow, are you not concerned about reactions with other substances, i.e. minerals?***<< I do not take minerals with it except Magnesium at night and find it works best for me if I swallow it. >>****curious why you take coq-10 at bed?*******<< It relaxes me and that is when i have had the worst problem with palps. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV My Ebay Jewelry Store http://stores.ebay.com/valeriescrystalcreations http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
Guest guest
Have you had recent cortisol labs? First be SURE your cortiosl is OK now cause if your adrenals are sitll not making enough cortiosl the aldosterone is unlikley to resolve either. And when you say oyu couldn't toletare Florinef, did you try starting wiht 1/4 of a tablet? Most people that need it have to start very low and work up to the normal dose. Whta effects did you have from it? -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV My Ebay Jewelry Store http://stores.ebay.com/valeriescrystalcreations http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/

Guest guest
Val, ANYTHING I've ever taken that CAN affect mood, does......Florinef made me nuts!! I don't know how else to say it. I have a very low tolerance to meds because I have a problem called " histapenia " . I was diagnosed with this at the Pfeiffer Treatment Center right outside Chicago a year and a half ago. This is a condition in which there is not enough histamine in the brain usually due to excess copper in the body. I have a tendency to retain copper which goes along with my very HIGH estrogen. Estrogen retains copper. Copper toxicity is KNOWN to cause adrenal exhaustion which I had happen to me a long time ago. Anyway, people with histapenia have a very low tolerance for medications and ESPECIALLY antidepressants which can put us right over the edge as prozac did to me in 2002 and landed me in an emergency room because it too made me nuts. I have adverse reactions to many drugs, especially with relation to mood disturbance. Otherwise, as long as I don't take any drugs, I'm happy as a clam and pretty upbeat most of the time. So, I tried a half tablet of Florinef and that's all it took to make me nuts. I can take almost any supplement, herb, etc. Cortef doesn't do this to me, neither does thyroid. In fact, histapenia is a condition in which thyroid imbalance is suspected. BTW--Does HypoT always cause aldosterone to be low? What can I do about my NMH and low aldosterone naturally besides lots of salt which is not working? My sodium level is always on the low end on a blood test, but potassium is always normal. It was the Fibro and Fatigue Center doctor who ran tests and found my aldosterone to be low last May and prescribed the Florinef..... Thanks., Re: another Val question Have you had recent cortisol labs? Guest guest
Val, I thought you said a few weeks ago that cortisol tests are useless when you are on Cortef and will not show what your own adrenals are producing...Did I misunderstand you? There is no other medication or herbals that I know of that correct this. I think if it were me I would try the Florinef again only in tiny doses maybe even 1/8 of a tablet at first. might have some other suggestions but this is all I know of. Florinef is not a drug but a hormone. You should not have these reactions to hormones thta you might have to drugs. I can remember when you said you had a reaction to Cortef.. Guest guest
Yes Val, Long ago when I first tried HC it also made me quite irritable/angry, and I had to take prednisolone instead. Eventually though I was able to go on the Cortef (about 6 months now)... Re: another Val question >> BTW--Does HypoT always cause aldosterone to be low? Hi, , Just out of curiosity...are you of northern European descent? I just heard about a study that was done in which northern Europeans were shown to retain excess copper. It had an appropriate evolutionary effect in their native land, but became problematic in the modern world. I have absolutely no info on it though - sorry - because I heard it via word of mouth. Might be worth googling or looking on pubmed.gov if you're interested. Warmly,
