Debbie, thank you for your well wishes. I'm so sorry you're having your own "medical mystery", and will see you getting good answers and being able to put it behind you as quickly as possible.

Steve, Terry and Alan, thanks so much for your thoughts on the biopsy second opinion. If it were I, I'd place a call to the urologist and ask about getting a second opinion on it, hard as that is to do, given he's been told he's negative for cancer.

Husband and I have (unhappily) locked horns several times since this "I may have prostate cancer" process began. I won't bore you with the details, but it's been a great strain on the relationship, and I've battled mightily to get my concerns addressed without being pushy, but by his reaction, I haven't succeeded. This is truly a "men are from Mars, women are from Venus" circumstance.

Was it Reagan who said, "Trust, but verify"? Well, that's me. I suggested to my husband that he trusted people more than I did, and he said, no, he just trusted different people than I did. There's some factual basis in that.

So . . . . . . . . I don't think I have any choice except bide my time, and perhaps at some future date, as tactfully as possible, pursue this line of discussion.

I guess my question now is, how long after a biopsy can one ask for a second opinion? Do these tissue samples have a "shelf life" or something like that? Does the second opinion have to be sought within a certain time frame?

Thanks so much to everyone for your support!

Calico
