Guest guest
Hi , my plan is to eat small each day...I eat at 5:00am (only a whey protein shake made with 8 oz skim milk and a piece of string cheese.) Then I try to eat a small amount at three hourly intervals ending at 5:00 pm. Basically the protein shakes give me energy for the gym...and helps me feel full plus I add half a teaspoon of splenda to it to make it sweet so I just think of it as a milkshake. I always have some form of healthy carb with it though...fruit or nuts or a slice of low carb bread. I have my main meal at three pm...a small piece of either fish, chicken or lean red meat grilled or broiled and vegetables. My exercise plan for the whole of June and the start of July was one mile on the treadmill at the gym at about six am after I've gotten hubby off to work and let my breakfast settle. Then at lunch I'd go and do another mile because my job involves sitting all day. After work I'd put it an hour to ninety minutes doing my list of weight machines. I started off with five now I'm up to eleven. I haven't done this in about two weeks...have just been so distracted...hubby's dad passed away and some other stuff happening...but I realize that was an instance of grabbing at any excuse because he would have been the first one to tell me to keep going. So I know I have to get back to it and I'm starting this Monday. And water...I have a jug that holds 9 glasses of water at work and one at home and they are both usually gone by the end of my day. I drink water constantly and love the taste of it. And we have a water dispenser at work so it's always crisp, cool and yummy. I also asked at work (since my membership at the gym will be up in twelve months) about the company paying for us to go to a gym in the area. My supervisor liked the idea...the boss okayed it and now it's just a matter of working out how much it will cost and presenting it to the company. So I'm looking forward to that. When is weigh in here? Just wanted to know. thanks for the encouragement. Lu <bryefield@...> wrote: Glad you came out of lurking What kind of plan did you settle on? do you journal? are you tracking your food? do you drink your water? How's exercise? I've never been much of a dieter - once about 15 years ago I lost 50 because my mom started RS and I thought what the heck - I lost more than she did and actually kept it off for a few years. Then I stopped watching and hit an all time high of 330. I got down to 265 in 2003 and by the beginnig of this year was back up to 328ish just under the 330. I'm down to 302.4 today. My water is never a problem, my food is about 70% and I get a greatr big zero in the exercise department. So that's what I need to work on. Welcome! Live, Love, Laugh Intro I've been reading this list for a few weeks now and so here I go jumping in with both feet...finally! I'm about to turn 40, am 317 lb and am at that point in this struggle where I know it's lose weight or lose my life....or at least the quality of life that still has me doing things for myself. I've been dieting since the age of fifteen...and that first one I have to say was successful but now I've yo-yoed up to this and it's time to take action. I'm glad to be a part of this group. thanks Lu . __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Well the fact that I talk all day...answering the phones and dispatching to my crew in the field makes me thirsty, and becuase they keep the office so cool....that makes me thirsty...don't know why but it does....and also it doesn't matter what I eat I have to drink water. But mostly I just like the taste. I can't think where I got them from...I think Walmart...not very expensive....almost got RSI by lifting it up all day when it was full so I just take a dixie cup from the kitchen and use that. I'm also lucky because my office allows me to snack at the times I've specified on my plan. Its a very easy going place. Guest guest
I picked up jugs that hold 4 and 8 glasses - both at Walgreens - I tried 'crushing ice to put in there - wasn't worth the effort to me LOL so in these hot summer months I have my 4 glass jug at the office - were 4-6 of us can whip through a 5 gallon jug in a day! I agree about that Lu - the talking on the phones thing. I am on the phone the majority of my day too and keep the water handy (and the chap stick too).... I love water - sometimes more than others and need "flavor" in it, but still water for the most part...
Guest guest
Hi- Thought I'd introduce myself; my name is and I was just diagnosed with Undifferentiated Connective Tissue Disease. My rheumatologist thought I had Systemic Lupus, but she has backed off to the UCTD diagnosis, as my only positive test results were the ANA titer (1:640 speckled) and the centromere B autoantibody. I guess I am in the nebulous, gray area between Lupus and whatever (CREST? Scleroderma?) My GI symptoms are pronounced (GERD, possible stomach ulcer, severe abdominal pain) and so I am going to see a gastroenterologist on Monday. The rheumy has prescribed Plaquenil, but told me to hold off filling the prescription until after seeing the GE, as he might prescribe something else that will supersede the Plaquenil. Does anyone else have a scenario similar to mine and have any advice or thoughts to offer?
Guest guest
Welcome, ! Aside from your GI involvement, what are your other symptoms? Do you have Raynaud's? Anything else? A positive ANA is not specific to lupus and, although centromere antibodies have a strong association with certain subsets of scleroderma, they can occur in other situations. I would keep the appointment with the gastroenterologist and then, possibly, seek a second opinion from another rheumatologist. Please let us know what your GI doc says. Guest guest
Hi - Other than the terrible GI symptoms, I have fatigue, low-grade fever, malaise, body aches and pains, mild joint pain (especially in my fingers, wrists) and tendonitis (elbows), memory trouble, depression, cognitive dysfuntion, some mild pheripheral neuropathy. Oh, I also have " trigger fingers " , bad enough that one stuck permanently and had to be surgically released. <Rheumatoid.Arthritis.Support@...> wrote: Welcome, ! Guest guest
HI ! Have they checked for trigger points for Fibromyalgia as well? I had FMS years before the inflammatory arthritis and IBS/GI problems are pretty common and intense with it. I have constant fatigue, extreme malaise daily, low grade fevers also common, joint pain is common, memory trouble and cognitive dysfuction is one of my major issues. Burning pain is also common with FMS. I am also positive and have elevation of b2 beta glycolprotein 1 antibodies (does anyone know what this is?) the first rheumatologist wrote that it meant i was hypercoagulative and to take 325mgs of enteric coated aspirin a day. Another rheumatologist wrote it was a symptom of a connected tissue disorder...ANyone familiar with what the Beta glcolprotein 1 antibody elevation is? --- Aryeh <rabbi_benjamin@...> wrote: > Hi - > > Other than the terrible GI symptoms, I have fatigue, > low-grade fever, malaise, body aches and pains, mild > joint pain (especially in my fingers, wrists) and > tendonitis (elbows), memory trouble, depression, > cognitive dysfuntion, some mild pheripheral > neuropathy.
