Guest guest
Hi , are you able to do the test in front of someone who can give you advice on what you might be doing right or wrong. Maybe when you go for your appointment on Friday you can do it then. from down under Extremely frustrated. > Hello, Everyone, > > Can someone tell me why when I do a test, I am having a problem with the Accu-chek Voice Mate registering a reading? Guest guest
There's no one here who would watch me do it. The minute I get the machine out the room empties out like there was a fire. Guest guest
Well, since misery loves company, I will remember that every time I have to do an extra finger stick or waste a strip because of " strip error " . As annoyed as I get with the dumb machine, I guess it's still better than nothing. Until the state bought the machine for me, I didn't do testing at all. I remember I was so scared when I first started testing until it became second nature. Now I wonder how I managed all that time without testing. I think it's the initial feeling of knowing you have to stick yourself that scared me. My kids are the ones who have a problem now. They won't stay in the room because they don't want to see me do the finger stick. And, these people are grown up. They are so funny! Extremely frustrated. > > > > Hello, Everyone, > > > > Can someone tell me why when I do a test, I am having a problem with the > > Accu-chek Voice Mate registering a reading? Guest guest
, I always rub the stuck part of my finger over the strip-not just try to drop it. Sometimes if you just try to place it on the divot, it seems to makea-I guess you would call it a vacuum-and the blood does not get into the little divot in the middle of the strip; so no beep! Very aggrevating. Extremely frustrated. Hello, Everyone, Can someone tell me why when I do a test, I am having a problem with the Accu-chek Voice Mate registering a reading? There is more than enough blood but when I place my finger in the curve it won't beep or do anything that I am aware of. I squeeze my finger and the blood supply is ample, in fact sometimes, more than ample. It has new batteries and I just got a new meter about a month back. Has anyone else had this experience? Incidentally, is correct about sending strips. You have to have a code key which has the same number as the strips to calibrate the machine so we can't send any. I did get a new box of strips and I will bring it up when I go to my next appointment which is on Friday. I had a message all set to go regarding my conversation with the triage nurse and I accidentally hit " alt backspace " when I wanted to delete a word instead of " control backspace " and the whole message went away. I didn't feel like typing it again so I'll save that for another time if anyone is interested.
Guest guest
That's what I do, but sometimes, it just doesn't seem to make any difference. I hope the doctor doesn't make me do a test in front of her on Friday, that will probably be one of the times when the silly machine doesn't work. We all know that most medical people think we are not that capable to begin with, although I have met a few who were really wonderful. For the most part, I have as little confidence in them as they have in me.. Guest guest
This machine is definitely frustrating at times. It doesn't always beep when yo do put blood on it, but it still gives a result 40 seconds later. Re: Extremely frustrated. Guest guest
Hi, Pat/, I have a sister . Do they call you Pat? I went up to the website and they had the machine listed. I read the blurb but it didn't say much. There was a place for a live demo and when you clicked on it, it wasn't available. All things considered, I would probably say that I don't have problems most of the time it's just annoying when I do. It's usually when I really want to know a reading rather than when I'm not so concerned about it. I do have a question to slip into this message. Does anyone know if blood sugars are affected by caffeine? I like to have coffee in the morning when I get up (black) and I am wondering if I can have a cup before I do the test or if I have to do it right away? Extremely frustrated. > > > > > > Hello, Everyone, > > > > > > Can someone tell me why when I do a test, I am having a problem with the > > > Accu-chek Voice Mate registering a reading? Guest guest
ah, this is not true for everyone Harry. Coffee dehydrates you and can make your cells less receptive to insulin. This is true in my body. If I drink coffee and no water for the morning up to around noon, my insulin is less effective from my cells being depleted. Regards, Extremely frustrated. >> > > >> > > Hello, Everyone, >> > > >> > > Can someone tell me why when I do a test, I am having a problem with > the >> > > Accu-chek Voice Mate registering a reading? Guest guest
Then it would be up to each individual to experiment for themselves. Personally, I cannot say that drinking coffee has any detrimental effects on my bs levels, since I usually drink two or three cups of black regular coffee most mornings. I reframe from drinking coffee in the evening, since it keeps me awake. Extremely frustrated. > >> > > > >> > > Hello, Everyone, > >> > > > >> > > Can someone tell me why when I do a test, I am having a problem > with > > the > >> > > Accu-chek Voice Mate registering a reading? Guest guest
On the other hand, coffee, like manyother foods, does not affect my BG level Re: Extremely frustrated. ah, this is not true for everyone Harry. Coffee dehydrates you and can make your cells less receptive to insulin. This is true in my body. If I drink coffee and no water for the morning up to around noon, my insulin is less effective from my cells being depleted. Guest guest
Most people call me Pat. Coffee does not affect my BG, but it does some people. You will have to try it-doa BG, then drink coffee and do another BG an hour later ands see if your BG goes up or down.I can even drink Starbucks coffee and sleep at night! Re: Extremely frustrated. Guest guest
Hi Pat. Yes, coffee is a YMMV issue...
