Guest guest
, Thank you. I plan on printing out the replies and giving them to my Doctor. I just feel like I can't take much more and I have to get some relief. And maybe she can find a new direction to go now. Carlene

Guest guest
Duane, Thank you for the welcome. I will post my next lab results when I get them. My Doctor is very caring and is trying to help. But this is new territory for her also. Thank you again for the warm welcome and advice. Guest guest
Hey Carlene, Welcome, Welcome, I'm glad you found this wonderful group also! I have had similar issues for many years without knowing what they were, but for the most part severe adrenal fatigue, so can totally relate to what you are going thru. I have also take s adrenal program, and I think it works on a very long term process for those of us that I have this for years. I have not seen your labs but I can almost hear some of the other members replys already suggesting that you look into taking HC (hydrocortisone)as normally Adrenal glandulars, in my opinion will help to rebuild in the long haul, but do not relieve symptoms soon enough as will HC. I definitely felt a calming effect when I first began to take it. I'm sure others will have more in depth advice, but just know that you have found a place where people really do care and will try to help in anyway possible. Guest guest
, Hello and thank you for the welcome. I don't have my test results my Doctor never offered them to me. But I will get them this next time. I am taking 525mg of progesterone 2 oral and one topical. It's a high dose I know but my body is using it up. Last time my Doctor said my thyroid was working at 40% she didn't give me any numbers. This next Saliva test is about showing her where to go next. I'm just so exhausted most days and have no stamina. If I try to push it I suffer greatly for it. I just try to rest as much as possible and do small jobs around the house. I am going to copy all these e-mails and sites and give them to her. I know she will read them. Carlene
Guest guest
Carlene in my opinion the one worst thing about treating adrenals with the glandular products is the length of time to feel well. I know of one person that was on them for 8 years and then began to see relief. Most people do not have 8 more years to give to their illness, I know I sure don;t, and HC is the fast track to healing the adrenals. Here is something else you can take to your doctor: http://featherstone.bravehost.com/thyroid/peatfieldadrenal.html -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV My Ebay Jewelry Store (Closing after Xmas!!!) http://stores.ebay.com/valeriescrystalcreations http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/

Guest guest
Hi Carlene: It sounds like you might need cortisol (Isocort, Cortef, hydrocortisone or Delta) to help with your adrenal fatigue. That will also help your body use the Armour thyroid medicine. The active thyroid hormone, T3, can't get in the cells without it. Panic attacks are very common when you are low on cortisol. If you get your adrenals straightened out, you should be able to wean off the xanax. Adrenal support is very important when you're hypothyroid. There's more info on the adrenals here: http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/adrenal-info/ http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/adrenal-info/how-to-treat http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/isocort/ I wasn't familiar with Dr. 's products, so I did a quick lookup. As they say they are adrenal glandulars & contain " no hormones " , that may be why you are still having problems. You may well need more adrenal support if your glands are too kaput to put out enough cortisol, which it sounds like from your continuing symptoms. It's hard to tell if .6 is a low reading on your progesterone without the lab ranges Do you have them? Many labs use different ranges. If it's still low, maybe you could use some more progesterone support. How much are you taking a day? It is not uncommon to see progesterone drop in your 40's leaving you estrogen-dominant in comparison. Also, cortisol is made from progesterone, so getting your levels back up will help support your adrenals. For example, I was on 20mg/day of topical bio-identical USP progesterone cream from days 10-28 of my cycle. At my last test, my pregnenolone, progesterone & DHEA levels were still in the dumper. My morning cortisol starts out good, but drops below normal the rest of the day. My body is probably using some of my progesterone for the cortisol it is able to make, leaving me still low. I'm up to 40/mg day now every day. I noticed a few weeks after the increase that my skin was much softer & moisturized. I've been able to cut back a lot on my moisturizer. I'm hypothyroid, but just taking thyroid glandulars right now. Still waiting on my Armour prescription. Do you have your blood test results for your thyroid - TSH, free T4, free T3 & antibodies? That would help for us to make suggestions. Welcome to the group, Carlene! > > , > Thank you. I plan on printing out the replies and giving them to my Doctor. Guest guest
I resisted taking HC while on Armour earlier this year. Tried adding it to my Armour regimen and it didn't help. Had to wean off, start from scratch. Hi, Carlene...are you having your progesterone levels tested regularly also? It is a high dose, and if needed no sweat. But many end up with excess hormones too, and the symptoms are just as miserable as having to little. Warmly,

Guest guest
Hi Carlene: most doctors don't " offer " copies of lab tests automatically to their patients. Some of them seem to think that patients couldn't possible learn how to read them or understand the implications. But many of us do. You are entitled to a copy, under HIPPA, if you ask for it. The doctor may charge a reasonable copying fee, but most don't. Here's an article, with a link to the HIPPA site at the bottom, if it should become an issue with your doctor for any reason (most comply): http://headaches.about.com/od/advocacyissues/a/MedRecordsHIPAA.htm Here's a site that will help explain the abbreviations for the lab tests, the ranges, and what they indicate: http://www.labtestsonline.org/ You may also want to look into iodine therapy to support your thyroid. Thyroid hormone is made from iodine & the amino acid L- tyrosine. Selenium is involved in the enzymatic diiodinization of thyroid hormone, so making sure you get enough selenium & keep it in balance to iodine is important too. There's a lot of info on iodine below. Ask your doctor if he/she is familiar with it: www.iodine4health.com (Iodine group webpage) http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/iodine (check the Files & Links as well as the posts) http://www.helpmythyroid.com/ (Dr. Flechas's webpage - he uses iodine therapeutically) http://www.optimox.com/pics/Iodine/opt_Research_I.shtml (Dr. Abraham's information) http://www.drbrownstein.com/index.shtml (clinician that uses iodine therapeutically) http://www.quackcenter.com/ideficiency.html http://www.ithyroid.com/iodine.htm http://www.lewrockwell.com/miller/miller20.html http://www.breastcancerchoices.org/iodineindex.html Your exhaustion and inability to push your workload at all is very typical of adrenal fatigue, as well as hypothyroidism. You may be underdosed on your Armour as well. But it is also important to have your adrenals supported. If your adrenal are exhausted, you can not use as much thyroid medicine as you need. Your body requires cortisol to open up the receptors to the thyroid hormone. Otherwise, the hormone floats in your blood, making you feel hyper, but yet with hypo symptoms, when you try to increase your Armour when your adrenals aren't properly supported. I'd also suggest the the 4x/day saliva test for your cotisol levels, if you haven't had that yet. It's mentioned on the STTM adrenals page. Most doctors do the one-time blood test for cortisol. While that gives some info, it is often not enough. Adrenal fatigue has a variety of stages & your levels can be inappropriate high or low during the day, depending on the severity of the problem. My cortisol, for example, starts ok at 730am then tanks below normal for the rest of the day. An a.m. blood test wouldn't necessarily catch this. My cortisol levels really tanked at 4pm, which matched perfectly with my clinical signs of desperately needing to take a nap every day at 3pm. If your doctor is not familiar with the test, one place you can get it is thru Diagnos-Tech. They have an affiliation thru www.canaryclub.org. If you register <free> at Canary Club, you can get a discounted price on the Diagnos-Techs test. For CC members, it's $141.50. It checks your cortisol levels at 4 different times of day, plus it checks your TSH, free T4, free T3 & sex hormones (progesterone, estridiol, testosterone & DHEA). This chart shows you a sample of what part of the report will look like - charting the circadian rhythm of your cortisol & DHEA: http://www.chronicfatigue.org/ASI%20Normal.html Glandulars have their place for very mild adrenal fatigue, but you sound like you are well beyond that & need to get some actual cortisol, whether Isocort (a stronger glandular that actually contains some cortisol), Cortef, hydrocortisone (HC), Delta (time- released) or prednisolone (rarely, prefer to avoid, it's strong & synthetic, with side effects). Here's some info on the stages of adrenal fatigue: http://www.drlam.com/A3R_brief_in_doc_format/adrenal_fatigue.cfm Here's a pictoral of the several stages of adrenal fatigue: http://www.chronicfatigue.org/Selye%20large.html Remember to check this groups Files & Links for more helpful information. HTH & that you begin to travel more quickly down the road to good health. > > , > > Hello and thank you for the welcome. I don't have my test results my Doctor never offered them to me.
