Guest guest
I sent a note to the ADA about Dr. Bernstein asking what their opinion is; his this is the response. Dr. Bernstein I am interested in knowing what the ADA thinks about Dr. Bernstein's book, " Diabetic Solution: revised " . this book written by a very long term diabetic physician does not promote the ADA diet. thank you, La France-Wolf American Diabetes Association Cure. Guest guest
lol. like Bernstein states in his book, the old ADA just isnt' willing to admit they have been wrong with regards to carbs for the past 20 years. Bernstein's 15 years+ research shows that the ada has been strongly wrong. It's unfortunate that the ada simply makes suddle references to " ya, carbs *mayy* have *some* impact on blood sugar " etc. Instead of just saying, yes, be careful of carbs... they break down to sugar and spike your bgs! BTW thanks for shareing pat. Guest guest
, You are incorrect! Their response reminds me of the Science Fiction story " A Mote In God's Eye:. A group of beings lived on some planet somewhere and they were called Moties. The interesting thing about this race of beings is that each sect was bred for a particular purpose. Some were bred to be vehicle drivers, some were prepares of food, some were teachers and so on. One particular sect were bred to attend meetings, listen to dialog and interpret what was said and translate it into real, concrete language. A Motie was sent to a meeting of the Galactic gurus to ascertain what the plan for the future was. Upon this being's return to his/her/its planet the question was asked " Well, what did they say? " The Motie's response was to show a blank page of notes. The Motie observed that during the three or four day meeting not one concrete fact or statement was made by anyone and, thus it is with the ADA response to 's inquiry. It said nothing at all, it didn't even acknowledge that any reference to a particular document or philosophy was made. It did, however, make reference to a " product " but not to a school of thought or medical discipline. Is Spiro Agnew part of the ADA response team? (smile) Cy, the underwhelmed Ancient One... Guest guest
Exactly, Cy! I read that book years ago too. I was appalled the ADA did not specifically mention anything about Dr. Bernstein-like he was a figment. Guest guest
, Not only did they not specifically mention Bernstein they didn't specifically mention anything. It was about as good a job of complete hog wash as I have ever seen. I do not think there was one single bit of substance in the entire response. The Moties would have been rolling on the floor... My, but I sure did enjoy that book. Funny thing is that I have had many, many occasions to reference it just as I have in this one. Sad actually - but true. Keep in touch my friend. Cy, the Ancient Galactic Hitch Hiker... (would have left it as one word but JAWS sure butchers hitchhiker.)
