Guest guest
I did Weigh Down about 10 years ago, was about to goal weight, then lost my focus and the weight came back. I'm now about 80 lbs over what I probably should be. I joined this IE group because, frankly, I think Gwen Shamblin has gotten a little crazy in the last 8 years or so. Her original WD teaching was good, but I'm not so sure about the validity of what she's teaching now, so I'm not too keen on joining one of her online groups (there are no local classes I could attend). The biggest thing with Weigh Down is constant communication with God. If you're not sure if it's physical stomach hunger or some other emotion, pray about it. Ask God to show you what you're feeling. I can't quote the scripture right now, but there is one that says that God will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you can bear, and another that says that if you ask, He (God) will provide a way out. The way out could be a phone call at the right time, spilling food, the desire to use the rest room, the need to get something for a child. God uses all those things to break our focus on the food, help us take a step back and realize that - Hey! I'm not hungry anymore. I've had enough and can put away/throw away the rest of what I've been eating. We have to remember, too, that there is no virtue in eating beyond full. Eating when we're not hungry (to start with, or anymore) is just as wasteful as tossing the remainder in the trash can.I'm not having any problem eating what I want these days, but I am struggling with the waiting until I'm sure I'm hungry and then stopping when hunger is gone parts of the equation. It hit me the other day regarding a different situation that God knows what I'm going through, and is there to help. Doesn't matter whether it's illness, children, what to wear, or what to eat. God, and His son Jesus, cares. Ask Him. Ask Him. Ask Him. "Am I hungry? What will satisfy? Should I wait? Am I full?" God is big enough to handle all the questions we can throw at Him.We just have to do it.nne Sick sense of humor? Visit Yahoo! TV's Comedy with an Edge to see what's on, when.
