Guest guest
Can someone please explain the stillman diet. I am doing Atkins and not getting anywhere. I had done Atkins once before and lost 30 pounds in 2 months, but this time around nothing. I am even stricter this time. I stay well under the 20 carbs, drink my water and take my pills. I am about the same weight as when I did it before. I eat mostly meat and cheese and a salad once a day. I have checked for hidden carbs and found none. I am in ketosis daily. I lost 3 pounds only to gain it back the other day. I am Polycystic and do have a slow metabolism. I was wondering if TOM could be a factor. I haven't started yet, but am not regular. I go anywhere from 28-35 days. I have lost about 1 inch off the hips and small increments elsewhere. Thanks. Blessings, Jackie Work At Home on-line! Guest guest
when in doubt..post menus... other things you might want to check out: 1. Are you getting _enough_ carbs? 2. Where are your carbs coming from? 3. Have you tried cutting back the cheese? 4. Are you getting enough calories? 5. Are you eating too much? (remember, Atkins isn't completely unrestricted..you should eat till you're full..and only eat when you're hungry - unless you're low on calories). 6. Check sodium..water retention perhaps? If you're losing inches, that's what's important! BB, SK --- Snippets91@... wrote: > Can someone please explain the stillman diet. > I am doing Atkins and not getting anywhere. Guest guest
My main problem on atkins is real simple: I eat too much! Yes, it's ALL legal--just too much. Quantity (calories) does count for some people, I am one of them. I have the ability to eat an enormous amount of food......Stillman helps me stay that, and I lose well on it. Guest guest
I have the ability to eat enormous amounts of food as well. When I was a baby I was diagnosed with a satiety disorder..has a doctor ever talked to you about this? basically it means you lack that chemical/whatever that tells you " enough " ...as a baby I would breastfeed till I puked...my mother finally had to put me on a bottle so she could monitor how much I was taking in. Even as an adult (and definitely throughout my childhood) I could eat as much food as I could possibly stand..and it didn't matter if I was in pain from the food, the signal " eat " was still going off in my head. It disgusts me to think of it now... I have found two things that help me: appetite suppressants (PPA was my drug of choice...of course it's not on the market now *groan*) or low-carbing. Ketosis is a wonderful thing...a godsend to me...especially now that with all the ephedra hype they'll probably find a way to ban THAT TOO. Anyway...I totally understand where you're coming from....and not taking into account calories was where I messed up my first time on Atkins...Most people do NOT have to count calories...but there are some of us who do ...I use dietwatch now to count everything..and try to go for my smiley faces for everything except fiber and carbs...I am feeling much more in control now...(except for my binge last weekend)...
