Guest guest
Recently I asked each list member to submit what they had learned during the past year. Here are the responses. I wonder what each of us will learn in the year to come??? Here is what I've learned...... hard work and effort really does reap it's own rewards. On June 16th when I started this woe I didnt expect to lose more than 10 lbs and then it just be a total flop. Now when I get on the scale and see " 180 " I sometimes have to get back on the scale again to make sure it's right......I can't believe I've lost 60 lbs! What I have learned in the past year is that this has not been a quick fix for me. I have lost weight faster in the past and put it right back on and more, when I went back to my old eating habits. I have learned to eat 3 meals a day and have snacks and stay within the limits of the Atkins WOL. I want to be able to eat like this for the rest of my life, because it makes me feel that I am in control and it's helped to make me healthy, slimmer and fit. Barbara I hope I have finally learned not to gain and lose the same 50 pounds over and over again. Mike I learned this last year that I can now tell the difference between real hunger and emotional and/or nervous hunger. Also, if my tummy is growling, I can tell if it is really hungry, or if it is growling because I had too many carbs the day before. Whenever I catch myself just wanting to eat constantly, I know it is because I am reacting to having had too many carbs the day before. Water chugs better at room temperature. Maintenance is harder than induction. It is easy to get stuck in a food rut that makes you forget what wonderful choices are available on this WOE. " Tis better to join a challenge than run a challenge. Those who can do join, those who can't do track those who can. Jean What I have learned the most is that I finally have control. CONTROL that is a big word to me. I feel now that I can control the food demon that I can do anything. I have tried every diet ever made like everyone else but I am finally succeeding and it feels sooooo good. It has been a slow process for me but Hey I have the rest of my life to get thin. I have been on atkins now for almost a year I think this is the longest I ever stuck to a diet. It's nice to eat to live instead of living to eat. Laverne That I am what I eat. Jodi That if you go off Atkins for a few weeks you can quickly gain back what it took you months to lose... so DON'T DO IT!!!! Kirstie I have learned that I can only control my body to a certain extent. Beyond that, it's up to chemistry! Happy New Year Everyone! Here's to a successful year!
