Guest guest
Yesterday I happened to catch an episode of The Twilight Zone " that I'm now seeing from a new perspective. It was the one where a young woman is going through plastic surgery in order to look like everyone else. In the end, the surgery fails and she's sent to live " in the north, " with a group of people " like her. " Of course, she is what we consider beautiful, while everyone else has pig-like faces. But she is considered the ugly one, and is not allowed to live in " normal " society. It got me thinking about the fact that what is now considered the ideal body (ie, rail thin) was once considered ugly. And here we are, as a society, struggling to meet this impossible ideal and condemning anyone who is different. Rod Serling was a genius!
