Guest guest
Yes, we are well aware of some who were here who believed their doctors were the only ones to trust. It is ashame they are literally no longer with us. Just talk to a diabetes educator > > Hi and all, > > I just talk with a diabetes educator. Guest guest
a two hour post meal check of 160 is fine if you want an a1c of 6.5 to 7.0. For an a1c of 5.0 to 5.3 you have to have it at 120... it is clinically proven! Regards, Just talk to a diabetes educator Hi and all, I just talk with a diabetes educator. I called my educator but she was out today so another educator called me back. She asked me if I need a increase in my inslen and I told her no that I wanted to get on lantis with this humalog that I'm already on. She asked me why I think I need lantis and i told her about my readings 2 hours after eating a meal. I told her that it went up and the insalen didn't take it down any. She told me that was normal. She also reminded me that I was taking Humalog mix 75/25. She said that I'm getting 75 percent of short acting and 25 percent of long acting. So when I told you I was taking just humalog, I was taking a mix. She was proud of me for getting my sugar down less then it use to be. I told her that I'm on a diabetic mailing list and I have a lot of wonderful people on there that's very helpful. Then she went on telling me that my sugar should be between 90 and 130 before meals and my sugars should be less then 160 2 hours after a meal. I told her that it probably would be better if I took 2 different types of insalen in sted of the mix. I probably would get better results with the 2 different types of insalen. My diabetes educator will be back in tomorrow so I'll get to talk to her. I also called my doctor to see if he could do it for me but he haven't called me back yet. I'll let you no what he says. Guest guest
Harry, there are some still with us on list that believe that. Don't get me wrong folks, doctors are necessary, are important, without them we would be in trouble. However, when it comes to diabetes, most of them are undereducated. I teach my doctor stuff about diabetes management all the time and she is 36 years old and just graduated doctors school 3 years ago. Guest guest
Gotta remember one thing, there are a lot more old drunks than there are old doctors.... Cy, the Ancient Okie.... Re: Just talk to a diabetes educator I am amazed at what some people are told by their doctors. I have a friend that is also a type 2 diabetic. He told me that his doctor that takes care of his diabetes is also a type 2 diabetic. His doctor told him that if he kept his blood sugar 2 hours after meals under 160 that that would be fine. I told him what you all have said. I think he thinks that we are crazy. Most people want to think that their doctors know what they are talking about, and want to listen to what they say.
