Hi (nameless :-)

Have you considered having an MRI or CT scan of the whole torso? The

bodily trauma of the D & C might have convulsed the bowel or twisted a

phelopian tube or you could have ashesions thickening from an

inflamation of the uterine wall if it was accidently nipped. Have a

blood test, your white blood cells count (lymphocytes) will be raised

if you are fighting infection in which case a swollen lymph gland

could also be pressing on something. Start the tests, you'll find

it.

Someone in here suggested that my symptoms sounded more like Adenomyosis.

I hadn't read much about it before, but you might also be interested in reading

more about it. http://www.fibroids.net/html/adenomyosis.htm Perhaps this might

be what is causing your pelvic pain. As I understand it, it's very hard to

detect, but can cause an awful lot of discomfort.

Good luck to you.

Pain from D & C??

Hi all,

Here's my story:

I have three fibroids. The fist physician I went to described them as

being the size of a lemon, a wall nut, and a pecan. After

undergoing a D & C to " thin the lining " of my uterus and " detect cancer

cells, " 0n April 30 ,2001 I have been experiencing severe to moderate

pain to this date. The first Physician after performing the D & C

wanted to perform a myomectomey or so she said. But she explained

that I might need a hysterectomy if she found cancer cells

after " opening me up " or if I bled excessivly. I became terrified

and cancelled the surgery. This surgery would have involved

a " bikini cut " that looked more like I would have been sawed in half

horizontally.

I went to a second physician who told me that my fibroids were small

and were not the cause of my pain. I was told that they are the

equivlent size of small change " two nickels and a dime. " He read

the report that I had obtained from the first physician but his

interpretation was vastly different. He also sent me for a second

ultrasound which confirmed that the fibroids are in fact small. The

technician also told me she did not think the fibroids were the cause

of my pain.

At this point I am extremely uncomfortable becausue of pain. All I

am able to do is barely drag myself to work. So of course there is a

quality of life issue. I was given prescriptions for three different

antiinflamatory drugs which are not helping. One pharmaceutical--

Ponstel-- caused me to vomit through out the night.

I am trying to do as much research as possible, but am hampered by

this pain. Does anyone have information about determining the cause

of pelvic pain. The second physician I went to does not know what is

the cause. I read that samll fibrids can in fact cause pain. But how

is it determined that the small fibriods are the cause of pain? I

don't trust the first physician I went to because of her

exaggerations or more accuaraely lies. Does anyone know about D & Cs

and the relationship to fibroids? Could the D & C be the cause of this

pain?

I have undergone a biopsy and a D & C: Cancer cells were not found.

Any input you have is appreciated. Thanks.

> Could the D & C be the cause of this

> pain?

I had a D & C by my second doctor and didn't have any pain from the

procedure. My 3rd doctor, when I told her that I was having pain (like

majpr cramping), said that it usually means the fibroids are shrinking.

But, I've had pain off and on for over a year and the fibroid has only

shrunk while under the Lupron. I have also heard from a doctor (and we

talked about this the other day) tha smaller firoids can actually cause more

pain than larger ones. I had incredible pain yesterday where I couldn't

even stand up and about an hour later passed a lkarge clot. Maybe, and I'm

just guessing from my experience, the pain is from the blood gathering

inside your uterus?

I wish I could help you more but know that I've been there and going through

it now. Good luck.
