Oh I feel so sorry for you, cat bites are the very worst, worse than dog as they can cause a serious infection, about 126 varieties of bacteria live in the saliva of a cat, and not only that ,gads any leg infection hurts so bad, having had one I can say that! Get better and keep on truckin'

Hi Carol! How are you getting along?

I actually got out in the yard today and planted those bulbs, in the

window boxes so I wouldnt have to lean over. It snowed yesterday, and

we got a horrible wind, so most of the cherry blossoms are gone, and

the bees. Then today it was beautiful. The tulips are starting to

bloom, and the daffodils are still hanging in there, the forsythias

are completely covered with bright yellow, so it is really getting

pretty. I will have lots of poppies this year, soon.

I looked up detached retina, and risks for include inflammatory

conditions, so I guess I can blame it on lupus, but, since really

paying attention I know its pressure, from coughing & sneezing,

leaning over, holding my breath with muscle spasms, and straining to

read sometimes I see " stars " . So I've been being very careful, and I

dont think its getting any worse. Will be interesting to hear what

the rheumy says........ get some exercise???

Take care,

Sorry you're not doing well Tawny! I am one of the new members, and I'm

trying my best to deal with a flare myself. My flare is a combined one, which

is

what always happens; one thing triggers another. I find it very helpful to

find things I CAN do, instead of worrying about those things I just can't do

right now. And I make sure I take BREAKS, whenever the heck I need them. I have

my books all over the house, in all my sitting/resting places, so no matter

where I happen to plant my bottom, I have something there to distract me. Of

course, in front of my favorite spot (my blue recliner), is my tray and

laptop!

Hang in there!

Marsha,.....Glad your meds are working, what are you taking? I am

taking 6 mtx right now. It just isn't helping me too much. I know

how you feel about using a wheelchair. I don't like using one either,

so that is why I'm stuck in the house all the time. It would be nice

just to get out one day, and feel great. You take care, and thanks

Hi Carol,.....All we can do is the best we can. I hope your flare

doesn't last long. I do a LOT of breaks, that is about all I do

right now. There is so much going on with my body, it's just feels

like it's giving out on me. I'm having problems with my sugar level,

high blood pressure, triglicerides, and cholesterol. I am tired of

going to the doctors, which I know isn't good for me. Just being

constantly sick for the last five years is really taking a toll on my

body and mind. I'm still hoping for a miracle, for better times. I

know what you mean, I have my favorite recliner too. Take care, Tawny

Tawny: It is so good to see a post from you..........hang in there girl......I

do not post much myself anymore but I try to read everyone's posts to see what

is happening. Welcome to all the new members. I am sorry for the reason you

found us but this group is one of the best and has the most compassionate people

you will ever know. Two of my very best friends, I have met through this group.

As for me, I am feeling crappy too but am tired of complaining. I see the

rheumy in a couple weeks and will tell him all about it. I had a CT scan of my

kidney last week to follow up to make sure the cancer is gone. Since I only

have one kidney now, I gotta keep it healthy. They found a large kidney stone

in my remaining kidney so not sure what they will do about that....will keep you

all posted on what happens,

We are having cold rainy weather and I know that adds to us all feeling

worse.........but I am trying to get a hot tub so that is something to look

forward to. I have a new job as of January 1 and I don't want to let on to them

how much I hurt. I am very thankful tho as I have way better health insurance

now. The employees are supposed to pay 1/2 the premiums and I told the boss I

could not afford it so he gave me a raise to cover my health insurance

premiums..............I LOVE MY NEW JOB!!

Hi Tawny,

I've used scooters at Walmart and Meijer and they're great! You can

adjust the speed and go slower if you want, and the minute you take

your hand off the control, they stop. It's a whole new world!

I used a wheelchair and still use the scooters at Walmart, etc. They have made

my life so much easier and I actually feel as if I have some life now. Please

don't be embarrased. It can make a major change in how you feel and how you

feel about yourself!

If we all could be less 'hard-headed, we would enjoy a lot more life. LOL

Wheelchairs and scooters were invented just for us, so we might as well use

them at every opportunity. That's what I found out a few years into this

challenge. Now I wonder why I waited so long.

Tawny honey, I am so sad to hear you're having a tough go of things.

I wish I was there to give you a hug. You are so precious to all of

us, and I will be praying that things get better for you. Hope all

the family is doing well, Chas is off to Africa as a summer

missionary, and when she gets back she's off to Alaska to lead

worship for a youth conference. I told her that home is where she

unpacks her suitcase so mom can do her laundry between missions! (And

re-string her guitar...) Please add her to your prayer list, for

safety and protection.

Love you much, my precious sister.

Yeah, Tawny, I'm still around in spite of . :) And, I'm glad you're

posting again.

As for your depression, you need a hobby or something to while away the

hours. Right now, I'm going to take my car out to the track this coming

weekend, along with our chair and scooter (hint, hint). In preparation for

it, I've put some traction bars back on it and am painting it a bright blue

with bright red inserts. This is what is keeping me going, setting a

deadline for something I enjoy anyhow, but if I don't make it I won't be too

disappointed. I've done better painting before, but I'm doing it and I have

to live with it. Didn't you move to OK? That's what I remember, anyhow. You

can come down and we can get up a cheering team at the track.

As to your exercise equipment, we got a Gazelle Edge glider which is very

low impact, but allows you to move as if you are walking. It has a calorie

counter, time, distance, and speed on the small computer. Betty uses it

while watching wrestling and gets carried away. She can do 20 minutes that

way. We also have a 6 Second Abs gadget. It's easy or hard depending on how

you set up the bands. Both of them cost less than $100 and don't need power.

They are easier on both of us, and do make a difference. In my mind,

treadmills, stair steppers, and the like cost a lot and go unused in most

cases, so aren't worth the high prices.

I think you might have missed it, but I took Betty to the SSA office in

August and applied for disability because she's doing so much worse. We got

the approval letter in December and the first check (?) in January, $245!

What's it going to do when Medicare premiums come out? That'll be a joke.
