Guest guest
Dennis,,.....This is awesome your going to the track!!! I love going to the races, but haven't been in years. I do get the hint, lol I have lived in OK all my life. I'm sorry that is all Betty gets on her SSA, how awful:( Can she qualify for medicaid to help out? We make too much money for me to qualify for medicaid. The medicare premiums go up every year, and for what:(? I'm taking methotrexate only right now, I can't afford the Enbrel, Humira, or Remicade. There isn't anything I can do, I can't get the patient assistance programs now, because I do have plan D. I WOULD feel a lot better, if I could have one of those meds. Oh well, we do the best we can. You have a good time at the races, and I'll be cheering you from OK, hope you can hear me,lol Have a great day, Tawny
Guest guest
I wonder if an old woman that's almost 77 years can ride one of these Gezelle Edge Glider? It's not all that easy to walk as it is. But I really do need to do something and I know I'm not a spring chicken. I'm just afraid of falling. About four weeks ago I fell on my my dining room floor which is not carpet. I whopped myself good causing two large bruises on the side of my face. It rather smartted too. There is one big problem. No one lives here to help get me up off the floor. Oh well, my three cats came over and watched me get up. Now that was a real struggle. They acted alike they wanted to help me get up. I have thought of getting one of those small trambolines with a bar so I can hold on it. Can comeone give me some ideas? I'm not ready to go to the wheelchair yet. Guest guest
Hi Joyce. I think a recumbent bike, the step through style, would be a better idea for you than the Gazelle Edge Glider. And if you have access to a gym with a pool, pool exercises are GREAT for people with arthritis. It's gentle on our joints and still gives us a good workout. I do strength training too, using dumbbells. It has helped a LOT with my mobility. Carol In a message dated 4/24/2007 12:59:22 P.M. Guest guest
Hi Joyce,......I'm not sure if it would be a good idea, especially if you live alone. I have a momentum 620, which suppose to be low impact, but I can hardly ride it. Have you checked the YMCA in your area? They have the heated pool which would be so good for you. Also, if some of your friends can walk a few blocks together, that would help so much. I would like to try yoga or pilates, if I can ever get to the point of not hurting so much. I would love to have a hot tub. Just be careful, take it slow. I'm glad you have your cats, take care, Tawny

Guest guest
When I was in Minnesota, I went to a water class at the YMCA that was designed by the Arthritis Foundation, and held in a warm water pool rather than the standard pool. It emphasized range of motion and flexibility. Afterwards, several of us would go sit in the whirlpool for 20-25 minutes. It was heavenly! And the price was right too, part of the membership. You could also use the exercise equipment, too, and you got a consult with a fitness expert when you joined. She talked to me, we walked around and looked at the equipment, and she helped me figure out which ones I could use, and then showed me how to use them. Membership there was only $58 a month, well worht it! On 4/24/07, boomer6454@... <boomer6454@...> wrote: > > > Hi Joyce. Guest guest
Joyce, you can certainly use it if you can stand holding on to the frame. If you can lift your feet about 8 inches, you can stand on the foot pads. The best part of it is that you can do as much as you want and as often as you want. And the handles help with your top side workout if you want that. Betty rests her hands on the crossbeam and I can't see her moving at all, but under the gown, her legs are really moving. I'm sorry to hear of your fall, but glad it didn't leave more than bruises. Another plus for the glider, it will help your coordination, help you get moving, and the careful way to do it, to make sure you don't need the wheelchair. Something I do, since I like to fall sometimes, is to carry a cordless phone everywhere I go around the house and property so I can call for help. Every little bit helps. A bit of information about WalMart. If you buy online, it's a lot cheaper, but the downside is you may have to wait for 7-10 days. In my case it was $84 online or $96 in the store, I went with online and with my credit card payment, sales tax wasn't charged. So you can save 2 ways. I've found a couple of other places to get what I want at an affordable price, and there are lots of them out there. Guest guest
This is another example of our government at work. Betty and Liz, our youngest daughter, went into town and applied. Later, we got a food stamp card with a whole $10 on it! I just couldn't believe the real generosity from them folks. The only thing we can wait for that will be useful is Part D. I'm paying a lot more for her meds than mine, and have to turn some of them down because we can't afford them. We are using Together R/X for some of them and it does help, but is a pain to keep up with refills and doctor's prescriptions. When the engines fire, it's hard to hear anything except the rumble, and that gets my blood flowing. About 5 years ago, a man from California sent me a set of wheels for the RancheroRod, and in return, I was to get him a smoky burnout 8x10 glossy. I hadn't met him or asked for anything, he volunteered, but too many things stopped me from finalizing the deal. Since then, I've had lots of health problems, the engine broke and I had to fix it, a million other excuses, and I'm going to record a few runs and put them on CD's for him this coming weekend, one way or another. A little cheer is a good thing. 8<) Dennis in Eastexas " It's not Rocket Surgery " [ ] Re: Hi, checking in > Dennis,,.....This is awesome your going to the track!!! Guest guest
Now that is cute. I wonder which of my three cats would get to the trampoline first. Joyce from Texas [ ] Hi, checking in I have thought of getting one of those small trambolines with a bar so I can hold on it. Can comeone give me some ideas? I'm not ready to go to the wheelchair yet. Hi Joyce, We have one of the small trampolines in our house. Before one of the springs broke, I used it for mild jumping and marching. It's only a few inches from the floor so it's not dangerous. Now that ours is unsafe to use, our 3 cats lay on for looking out the window. Guest guest
(((((((((((((Joyce)))))))))))))))))))) As a former occupant of a 'hick' town, I understand and send my love - I now live in Indiana with my daughter and her husband - and though things are very close - and not much driving needs to happen - I miss that hick town sometimes!! But, I was born and raised in a hick town.. LOL A friend of mine is now pastor of the Ellis County Cowboy Church just off of Hwy 287....... Waxahachie and all made me think of that too!!! " J. L. McCrary " <j.mccrary@...> wrote: Thank you Bonnie, I'll look into this. I wish I was closer to a gym than I am. I live in a little hick town that is 18 miles from the gym where they have a pool, tread machine and ectc. I wish I had never moved from Waxahachie. but my husband wanted me to move here. He knew he was dying and wanted me to live close to my son after he was gone. Everything you want, you have to go to Waxahachie. You even have to go to Waxahachie for printer ink for your HP printer. Well at least they have a small grocery store here. Grumble, grumble, grumble. Joyce from Texas Re: [ ] Re: Hi, checking in >Date: Tue, 24 Apr 2007 20:06:09 EDT > > >Hi Joyce.
