Advertisment for posts in the NACO Sub-office for North East at Guwhati

Hello everyone,

NACO has already advertised the following positions in Hindustan times on the

14th october in page 15. However for the sake of a wider audience the details

are as follows:

CONSULTANT (TRAINING)(Contractual)

1. She/He may be a medical doctor with post graduate degree/ diploma in public

health / health management.

2. She/He should have worked in a senior position in the field of HIV/AIDS for

a minimum period of three years.

3. She/He should be preferably a permanent resident of one of the North East

States.

CONSULTANT (IDU)(Contractual)

1. She/He may be a medical doctor with post graduate degree/ diploma in

public health / health management . or Master in Sociology / Social Work

2. She/He should have worked in a senior position in the field of HIV/AIDS for

a minimum period of five years

3. She/He should have work in a senior and responsible position in the field

of IDUs for a minimum period of three years.

4. She/He should be preferably a permanent resident of one of the North East

States.

CONSULTANT (PROGRAMME)(Contractual)

1. She/He should be a medical doctor with post graduate degree / diploma

in public health / health management

2. She/He should have worked in a responsible position in the field of

HIV/AIDS for a minimum period of five years

3. She/He should be well conversant with all the aspects of NACO Programmes

(ART, Blood safety, VCTC, PPTCT, TIs etc.)

4. She/He should be preferably a permanent resident of one of the North East

States.

GENERAL CONDITIONS

The incumbent will be paid a consolidated monthly salary of Rs. 60,000 per

month.

- He / she will be entitled to air travel by Economy Class during official tour

anywhere in India or abroad.

PERIOD OF CONTRACT: For these posts at is – Three (3) years – extendable for

another term subject to satisfactory performance as assessed by the Project

Director. The incumbent will be under probation for a period of three months

from the date of appointment.

Dear FORUM,

It is very disappointing and disgusting that NACO is still not totally believe

in promoting the communities involvement and respect the skills and expereinces

that some of the drug users or PLHA possess.

Why these job can be applied by only those who have a medical profession? Some

of the former drug users or PLHA are far better than some of those medical

doctors in dealing with the HIV and Drug use issues.

Dear all FORUM Members,

I too agree with what Shiba has said. Re: the qualification for posts in the

NACO Sub-office for North East at Guwhati. Even if NACO feels that doctors are

required then at least one post should be left open for all non medical -yet

professionals in the field of HIV/AIDS revention and control like NGO workers,

Consultants, Trainers, Program managers, Care and Support specialists etc.
