Uterine Fibroids Act

I just got a reply from my Congressman about the Uterine Fibroids Act of

2001 (H.R. 1672). He said the measure has been referred to the House

Subcommittee on Health, but no hearings have been held or scheduled on this

legislation (he called it important!). This issue has also not been

included in the legislative agenda for the coming months. I think we need

to let our elected representatives know just how important this is to

us. Please, if you haven't already, write to your Representative and let

them know that this is something they should support. For those who would

like to view the text of the bill, it can be found at

http://thomas.loc.gov. Enter H.R. 1672 in the box for searching by bill

number.

My rep is Leonard Boswell (Iowa) and, no, he said nothing about

co-sponsoring the bill. He gave me a summary of the bill and said that no

hearings have either been held or scheduled for " this important

legislation. " I'll be replying to his letter in the next couple of days

urging him to take a more active role and actually co-sponsor the bill.
