Carla,

Give you family lots of clear liquids to keep them from getting dehydrated,

and don't feed them until the flu bug passes. No food in the tummy to

irritate it should help them feel better.

Ginger Ale and 7-Up were old stand-bys when I was a kid and we'd get

intestinal flu.

There is an anti-nausea medicine you can get over the counter. It' s a

liquid called Emetrol. You should be able to get it at your pharmacy.

Terry got to it before me. I have never used

it but my husband used it and it worked

well for him. You can even use it for your

3 yo.

Hope you all feel better.

Carla - I always had them SIP full-sugar Pepsi, plus there is a syrup on the

market (drug stores) SPECIFICALLY for nausea and vomitting. It's the

opposite of Ipecac. I can't remember the darned name, but your pharmacist

will know it, and it truly works. Unfortunately you can't give a three=year

old Pepto Bismol tablets, but it works well for the adults. Kids can't have

it because the salicitates in it mimic aspirin, and can contribute to Reyes

syndrome.

Hey Kirstie, Over here we have Doctors that tell us to do the BRAT diet after a bout with vomiting or diahrrea! That is Bananas Rice Applesauce and Toast.

>>>When they are feeling better, I was taught to start of with RABY: rice,

applesauce, bananas, yogurt.  Apparently these are all really easy on the

tummy.<<<

The BRAT diet is what we are taught to use in nursing school.
