Guest guest
I'm new to this, so please bear with me- I had to go to the emergency room last week for blood and in the following days in the hospital they found fibroids- well, the doctor said " fibroids " , but she mainly talked about one big fibroid, at the top of my uterus, " about the size of a grapefruit " , and she also told me that my uterus is the size of a 20 week pregnancy. Although this news doesn't actually come as a surprize- my mother has had three surgeries (including a hysterectomy) for fibroids, and, for the past two years, I've known something's been wrong, but without proper medical insurance I was nervous about getting it checked out. I am scheduled for an appointment with a gyn/ob doctor on July 6, and although I've done some research on my options, I'd really apprieciate some advice about what sort of questions I should ask and what I might expect to hear. Unfortunately I didn't get any more information about what " kind " of fibroids I have (all the doctor told me was that they were on the inside, and not the outside of the uterus), and I know that plays into determining possible treatment options. The weight of this decision feels overwhelming right now- I just got married on April 1, and while my husband tells me that he married me, not my uterus, we thought, maybe, someday, perhaps we MIGHT have children... Thanks for letting me vent- and thanks in advance for any advice.
