Hmmm. I ownder how there can be no carbs in that mayo when it states there

is sugar.

Mayonnaise

Hi folks,

Believe it or not whoever said that real mayo had no carbs is correct.

Both Hellmann's and Kraft list no carbs on the info label. They do,

however, list sugar as one of the ingredients. Must not be much sugar,

huh?

Now, for the surprise of the day....

Kraft Miracle Whip (regular) and Great Value Salad Dressing list 2 carbs

per tablespoon. Kraft Light Miracle Whip has - ready for this? - 3 carbs

per tablespoon. The Light lists Fructose Corn Syrup as one of the

ingredients.

Oh yes, for another surprise, Lee and Parrins Worchestershire sauce has

1 carb per TEAspoon. (that would be 3 per tablespoon)

Pat,

I don't know but both Kraft and Hellmann's claim no carbs while listing

sugar in the ingredients. Crystal also tells me that the bargain brand

of mayo also has no carbs.

I was amused at the Kraft light Miracle Whip. The carb count was higher

than the normal one.

I suppose the " net " carbs may have been lower as Fructose was among the

ingredients in the light variety.

Cy,

Often by " light " they mean less fat. So, in order to improve the taste,

they add more sugar!

Pat,

I do understand the problem and it is terribly misleading. By

implication one would expect this to be " better " for one than the

regular product.

It is the same principle for " low sugar " items. Yup, less white

processed sugar but they have to get that taste somehow.

Fructose, Sorbatol sugar alcohol here we come.

Anyway, stay with the regular products for most items and you at least

have a clue as to what you have.

I am still dismayed about the high carb content of the Wochestershire

sauce. Man, there ain't no justice in this here land! (smile)

Lissi,

Glad it helped you in some way.

My wife, Crystal, works at a Wal-Mart Super Center here in Tulsa. When I

can remember it I will ask her to take a look at carb counts for items

which have been mentioned on this list when she is on her lunch hour.

It benefits her as well as providing the information to others.

Crystal is just like most of the folks on this list, struggling with her

diet.

Take care and good luck counting those carburetors.

Mike,

I am blind, Crystal is sighted and she is the Diabetic.

Until about a year and a half ago I had little knlowledge of Diabetes

and most of what I did know was false.

Crystal and I married a year ago last April. Before that august event I

joined this list to learn whatever I could to help Crystal in her

struggles with her diet.

The information, the general humor of the folks on this list and the

knowledge that there is help out there makes this one of the best lists

I am on.

I have gained an enormous amount of information and still have a long,

long way to go on the subject of Diabetes.

Man, do I hear you about coming from Nowheresville re knowledge of

diabetes. I am blind also and am also the one with diabetes. But I did

not go blind from diabetes; I was blind first and, as outlined in past

Cy:

Man, do I hear you about coming from Nowheresville re knowledge of

diabetes. I am blind also and am also the one with diabetes. But I did

not go blind from diabetes; I was blind first and, as outlined in past

messages, discovered with a large crash in March of this year that I was

a latent Type 1; had a normal A1C as late as last summer! So talk about

needing knowledge!

Anyway, glad you find the list helpful.

Mike,

A really good book to read is Dr. Bernstein's " Diabetic Solution:

revised " . I had it put on tape at the Braille Institute in L.A.; so it is

available to all who are on a talking book list anywhere. Call:

and ask for the volunteer department and tell them it is a book

put on tape by volunteers and they will send it to you free.

Dear Cy, and Everyone,

Thanks, Cy, for your cheery reply and maybe more label information to come.

I'm not doing well with my diet. I haven't checked my glucose for days and

days.

I've been paying more attention to this list because I need your ideas and

good examples so much. Personally, I seem to latch on to practical examples

of the way everyone eats and exercises. All of the articles discourage me

because many contradict one another and they say I must do more and give up

more than I ever could so they make me feel like giving up entirely.

If I were really giving up, I wouldn't still be here. I admire all of you

for your determination and sharing.
