Guest guest
> Is there anything we can do to help tweak things for you? congrats on the perserverance of sticking with this > even when the scales are cooperating - let's see if we can't help you start watching them go down Kirstie Thanks Kirstie and all of the other good people on this list!! I have learned A TON from this list!!! I find this " adventure " that I/we are on is an INCREDIBLE litmus test for DETAILS IN ONE'S BEHAVIOR!!! Details which takes a lot of TIME and ATTENTION from the rest of my life to tweak and get straight. But my light at the end of my tunnel is that eventually I will be able to do all these correct-for-my-body-behavior-details by rote and not have to focus on them so much and take attention from the other areas of my busy, actualized life!!! The areas I know so far to work on improving in my WOE are: Starvation Mode: Which I was in for a month and didn't know it until I read about it on this list. Like others have said, I am never hungry and don't have cravings with this WOE and get involved in my life and forget or can't stop what I am doing to actually fix a meal. One day I tried to focus on eating every 2 hours. Something about my body loved it even though it was never hungry. But I haven't been able to do that since. And I know I need to get there behavior wise. Atkins Bars: I was relying on Atkins bars for times when I just want something sweet and when I don't have time to fix food. I was doing 1-4 Atkins bars a day for the above reasons. Then I learned from this list about glycerine. So last week I went cold turkey off the bars (and intuitiionally feel less full of " additives " ) and next week I am going to start bake the substitute atkins bars. Recipes: Yesterday, I took the time out of my life to collect some recipes off this list and spent 2.5 hours in my grocery store, researching brands and products and amounts, etc for all the new-to-me ingredients for these recipes. So I plan to bake and freeze a lot of homemade bars and muffins in individual baggies for grab and go purposes. I am also going to substitute the homemade mixture for the Atkins Baking stuff, in case that has anything in it that I am sensitive to. Water: In a regular basis, I am drinking 60%-70% of the amount of water I need to be drinking (yeah for me). I am going to try various ways to up it regularly. Work: One of the ways I was successful at was that after 10 years, I finally got bottled water in our department at work. How I did it was that I personally went around and invited every member of my department to join. A lot of people said they would drink more if they had bottled water delivered at work. I ordered the holder with a hot and cold spout. (That seduced the hot chocolate and the cup of soup people.) I volunteered to collect and administer the money every month. And I gave our group a name " The Water Club " . All those things helped to push it over the top. Fiber: Bought some low carb fiber with ingredients I think I can tolerate. Going to start using it and see if it works for me. Exercise: After 20 years, I am starting to belly dance again. Just taking it naturally, under the category of " fun " rather than a discipline. Its doing wonders for my heart and my confidence as a woman for the time when a wonderful, available man strolls into my life. Assistance: I don't like or am sensitive to about 1/4 of the foods on the Turtle Program. However, I will take you folks up on your offer of me sending in what I eat for comments (scarey!!!) but please give me time to " practice " at doing everything I already know I need to be doing before I report in for new comments from all you wonderful folks!! Inner Stuff: I am also dealing with the: " I Don't Wanna. " " No One Can Make Me. " " No External Forces Can Tell Me How To Live " syndrome. That looms large. All I know how to do with it is to notice it. And I think there are some " voices " in me that don't want give up this weight. I am learning how to " go inside " and speak to those " voices " and ask them what they want or need in order to have it be okay with " them " if this weight would begin and continue to be released. For me, I think this is important. Recording: As for writing down what I eat, I got a brilliant idea from something that was discussed on this list. I went into my Master Cook program and created a new " cookbook " called " Rozwin's Progress " and every day I create a new " recipe " the title of which is always today's date. The " ingredients " are everything I have eaten that day. The " directions " are anything else I want to write about how the day went in regards to this WOE. Then I print out the " recipe " and put it in My Progress Binder. And of course, it writes the fat, protein, calories and carb amounts right on the bottom of each " recipe " !! I may temporarily be size Beached Whale, but, boy, am I clever! Guest guest
Holy Cow Rozwin! I predict great success for you. I think that was the most together response I have ever read on this list!. Don't look at sending in menus as something scarey. So many of us have to tweak thisWOE and often we can spot items like the Atkins bars that may be fine for some people and are trouble spots for others. If you are shy about sending to the list, feel free to send them to me privately. I've been known to be a good induction coach in my time (we had a big sis, little sis thing going for awhile that offered some personal attention to those struggling through induction). Nobody can tell you how to make this diet work for you - you have to discover that through trial and error. But suggestions we have aplenty Personally, I have a food intolerance to soy - and it seems to lurk in just about EVERYTHING these days. I'm sure you'll figure out just what's going on soon. If you do find that you're still not losing for another few weeks, you might want to try an elimination diet to see if you have any intolerances.
